Fingers crossed Verlinden can get a goal or at least make a big impression. Really think if he stays fit he has a chance next season.

Collins ahead of BMI, read anything into that? I'd have paul Dyson in front of BMI

BMI is off. I can’t say any more but he’s going to Italy - mark my words.

You never know Bayern, this could actually be his position He’s a good football so I’d expect him to do well anywhere in the midfield bad DM but you’re really limiting his best attribute and then in reality relying on McClean to do it. Which is a crying shame.

Stoke City: Davies, Edwards, Collins, Lindsay, Ward (C), Woods, Sorensen, Verlinden, Jarvis, Gregory, Campbell. Subs: Butland, Batth, Vokes, McClean, Smith, Martins Indi, Cousins, Dunwoody. So his first choice team is.... Butland Smith Shawcross Baath McClean Cousins Allen Clucas Powell Vokes Afobe That seems to fit with the sides put out so far - but if any of the starters tonight shine you'd hope they are still in consideration for a starting position. Campbell, Verlinden, Woods and Collins appear to have done enough to date to be worthy of consideration - and hopefully we'll still have Etebo on the books come the first game.

Shame it won’t be in his actual position. Playing with wingers is definitely my preferred style of football and don't think there's much better than having a fantastic one beating his man and putting a great cross in for striker to put away. The combination of Etherington and Beattie in full swing was fantastic. However certain players can adapt and become just as good if not better players in different roles. Not comparing ability wise but you only have to look at transformation of Ronaldo and Bale. Ronaldo started of as a good skilfull winger being tranformed into a phenomenal player as a forward. Bale started as a left back, moved in attacking role then as main 'number 10' up top at Spurs. You have seen a huge amount more of Verlinden than me therefore in a better position to judge, excuse the pun. If he's that good of player surely he will be able to adapt similarly and possibly make him a better player?

A legit goal poacher, it'll be criminal if Jones discards him.

He may not be durable, but Tyrese knows the route to the onion bag! He’s the best option we’ve got from the bench at present by a mile. Has to be used as such.
