4 down.
Need a big partnership here from Stokes and Buttler at a decent rate, its a 350+ pitch is this......

Stunning catch from Bancroft in fairness, but he was doing fine ducking it and keeping his hands low.

Really hoping Leach when he bowls can demonstrate the same control that Lyon does, even if he's not taking wickets his holding role for resting Archer could be crucial.

That's gunbarrel straight.....out prodding again.
This could quite quickly turn into sub 200 if they keep playing like that.

On what planet is Buttler a number 5? If he plays then he plays as the keeper and bats 7.
To play him as a specialist batsman at 5 is just daft. The ball only has to do a tiny bit and he’s done for.

Stokes and that deep-midwicket look like a disaster waiting to happen.

Christ, whatever happens in this series we need a whole rethink on selection when it comes to the batting line up.

Christ, whatever happens in this series we need a whole rethink on selection when it comes to the batting line up. We will, but it should have been done before the Ashes.

Two encouraging drives from Bairstow, just needs to control that bottom hand....
again though, we can only really excuse one of our batsmen for getting out on this wicket. Denly copped a beauty the rest have got themselves out.

Woakes and Bairstow have played well to this point, very proactive against Lyon.

Uh oh, the classic Leggy trap.....just watch it...happened before with Bairstow when Smith got 3 out at the end of the day.
Edit: Sky copying my stats now....

Another Buttler no show with the bat...... The clock is running down on him. Such a shame as he is simply awesome in white ball cricket.

That's not the worst effort I've seen in that last hour, bit of luck but actually settled it down.
The question is can they survive the inevitable onslaught of the Aussie seamers post tea?

If we can get up close to 300 we’ll have had a very good day. Looks like a lot of rain around tomorrow so will be a potentially very tricky day to bat for the Aussies.
Big ask though as we’re only 1 wicket away from the bowlers.

Pat Cummins gets a ridiculous amount of wickets bowling guff down the leg side. Woakes played well but when there are 6 fielders on the leg side waiting for the top edge or the prod or the glove, why was he even trying to hit a ball that far down leg side?

Fast bowling can muddle the brain, especially when you’ve just been smashed in the head. I’m surprised he reviewed it though because he really didn’t want to be out there.
