Cheap, quick fix, processed foods are to blame. As mentioned above, they are horrendous. Life is so busy now that people see eating good food a luxury. It's a complete fallacy really, how kids don't get taught some really basic recipes that you can knock up in 10 minutes at school, with fresh ingredients is beyond me. Then I remember my Food Tech classes and I'm not remotely surprised. I can make a mean Flapjack. And Angel Delight. Home Economics š

Theyāll have you believing itās just over eating and to an extent it is but, in my opinion itās all down to the amount of processed food we are shovelling in ...pure poison....along with all the sugar in everything The ratio of hi carbs (which turns to sugar), suturated fats and sugar itself On saying that , if we are insistent on shoving all this shit in we should try and cut out snacking in between meals.......give our bodies a slim chance to recover A few weeks ago, I got tired of shoveling processed shite into my body. You are right, it's poison. 6 Weeks ago I was 18st 7lbs, now I'm at 17st 7lbs on today's weigh in. And that was all due to cutting out - Frozen meals Crisps White Bread Fizzy drinks All full of carbs. I feel and look slimmer, never bloated anymore and to boot I'm lifting the heaviest I ever have at the gym since starting. I realised 'fucking hell Chig, you're 22 years old and you're slowly going to kill yourself, you've got to stop doing this', and so I did. What keeps me going is the fact people are noticing, family, friend, especially the birds . And the self confidence boost it gives you is phenomenal. It's easy to do it when you put the effort in to cut out all the processed wank that we regularly consume. On the other hand, I have a lad in a group I meet up with each week who started his 'diet' last year and has put on about 2 Stone by the looks of it. He says he can't give up Pepsi because he needs it, has a takeaway near enough every night. I despair.

Vanity culture means too many people eat to look like some kind of supermodel as oppose to feel good in themselves. People eat bland shit like plain chicken, plain rice and broccoli every day to look good and it's absolutely boring. They might look good (most don't anyway) but why sacrifice any enjoyment.
Personally, I've cut down on eating lots of meat and poultry and cows milk and eat vegan 2-3 days a week. It doesn't have to be boring and I feel a hundred times better for it. I went Vegan for a month but didn't much enjoy it but in small doses it's great. Admittedly, it's a lot of cooking but I helps me stay away from fags, booze and late nights etc.
As Chigs says above, cutting out sugar, fizzy drinks, processed foods does you the world of good. And there's definitely something the these healthy gut diets/foods.

Every year, kids are run through the wringer with GCSE prep, but an unacceptable number end up leaving not being able to cook, wash their own clothes, pay a bill, watch their finances etc. I see this total lack of life skills from certain kids every single year.

I dont eat bland food....infact the majority of my meals are really spicy Just real food I've had times when I've had to eat shit in restaurants etc when out with friends and both me and my wife have always said we prefer home food....you learn to create some great meals when you cook with real food As for alcohol....I dont need that to feel good Until you get that sugar out of your system for some time you dont really taste food as it really is I know it sounds like preaching and I didnt want it to come across that way As I've said earlier...I wish I could explain better Like chig said ....if it's of help to someone, that's that matters

With regards to Anti-Candida Iām quite sceptical to be honest with you, Cortisol is a potent anti-inflammatory hormone so not entirely sure of the reasoning there, other than cortisol control is essential to healthy living which is a given. When given as a treatment itās literally called hydrocortisone and used to reduce inflammation. Though, high cortisol levels are bad for us and do put us in fight of flight states that do all sorts to our metabolism and immune system. So I can sort of appreciate that. Secondly Candida is a fungus not a bacterium that can cause thrush and fungal infections but only in very particular situations, we all live with Candida and overgrowths manifest as these infections as entry into the bloodstream would lead to sepsis and toxic shock as opposed to just bad dietary effects. Iām not doubting the diet has an effect Iām just not so sure of the science behind it in all honesty. To me it genuinely sounds more like low sugar dieting which is likely to have beneficial effects around insulin resistance and nutrition and the rest is tagged on to make it sound sexier. The papers Iāve read on the topic too, donāt fill me with much confidence as to the scientific reasoning.

You are welcome to disagree mate My doctor was sceptical .....until he saw the difference in me. I'm not going into detail of everything but everything my diet fixed in my body...and it was a fair bit.....I'd been to my dr with over the years with no success ( infact he made it worse with meds) He was amazed at the difference in me as little as 2 weeks into it After about 12 month or more he did full bloods on me and again was amazed at the difference He applauded me for doing something about it and changing my lifestyle He wished more people did the same I actually snapped at him there and said maybe you should tell people that instead of handing out drugs first All the stuff on that candida link works exactly as it says It's a fantastic very hard to stick to first weapon against western lifestyle My only regret was staying on it too long I should have move slowly to keto sooner As for cortisol.....what you say is partly right but I stand by what I say after 4 years of researching and actually putting it into practice I've benefitted from the results....there are always people that dismiss stuff...all I can say is thats your prerogative My wife had suffered with hemiplegic migraines for years. Literally stopped her from driving, even had to ring for ambulance at times as the symptoms were like a stroke....it was also destroying her career She saw the difference in me after 2 month and gave it a go Shes nearly gone 4 years without a headache and like me ...no illnesses cold etc and she works in a breeding ground for bugs....shes a teacher š There are youtube vids about that explain the cortisol and insulin stuff. I'm just not sure which and who it was...they usually go against a few medical thoughts All I know is my dr asked me to try an anti depressant for 2 weeks...I took his prescription in hand....luckily I spotted the candida diet that showed all my symptoms over the years that the doc failed to cure It said give it a go for 2 weeks and see the results Needless to say I did that instead and handed the prescription back to the dr Pfft What does western meds know

Medications serve a purpose but they have side effects which we often don't notice but take a while to recover from, like antibiotics depleting the gut of bacteria. I agree doctors should put a focus on what their patients eat before prescribing medication so readily but they're often pressured by the patients who would likely refuse to accept diet change as a treatment because it would mean them having to do something for themselves.
What do you do with fermented foods Mary?
I have a bottle of Kefir every so often and there's always sauerkraut in the fridge but apart from that I don't really know where to look? I'm not even sure what kimchi is, and most pickles sold in shops are vinegar based and not actually fermented.

I have to agree with PLB BTW on the life skills aspect of things.
I learned some shit at school. Macbeth in English, yeah thanks for teaching me that, I'll apply all I learnt in my OFFICE JOB. Pythagoras and Trigonometry, really helpful, makes passing on RIP messages at work much easier.
We should be teaching these young'uns how to cook, about houses and mortgages etc... Get them started early. Don't let them waste away on pointless bollocks.

(Like the fact is says Candida transitions to a fungal form....itās a fungus!!!) Like the cortisol aspect to me would make more sense if it was back to front. High cortisol reduces inflammation to the point of it running down your immune system (why so many stressed people are so run down and constantly ill) combined with high sugar diet which makes you feel like shit. I think the dietās low sugar aspect and movement away from processed stuff would be the main drivers behind the benefits. But youāre spot on, a lifestyle change would always trump a drug based treatment and it will always be the most effective treatment for most environmental driven diseases. Great news though pal, and however it works if it works in any way then itās worth doing. My girlfriend did it for 6 years before I met her which is way too long and she said it was a real struggle to get back so i definitely second your comments with regard to it going on too long. Congrats again anyway mate!
