I think 2049 edges it. Blade Runner is amazing and that should never be forgotten or understated but I find 2049 a more enjoyable watch on repeated viewings. There are just so many versions of the original Blade Runner as well, if I was to show that to someone who had never seen it I'm not sure which cut I would go with to be honest!

2049 is good, but it's nowhere near the sheer quality of the original. That wins on Roy Batty's soliloquy alone, but then you throw in the sets, the brilliant practical effects, the Vangelis score along with the performances of Harrison Ford, Edward James Olmos, Daryl Hannah, Sean Young along and the aforementioned Rutger Hauer and you have yourself a modern masterpiece.
As for which version, go with Ridley Scott's final cut.

Not seen the sequel but the original was ahead of it's time, awesome piece of dystopia and very moving (especially the scenes with Rachael). Great soundtrack.
Honourable mention to Minority Report, which was almost as good IMHO

Very atmospheric Original is one of those stand out, great Sci Fi films up there with Alien, Soylent Green etc that can rarely be beat

Original was ahead of it's time. Loads of stand out moments, performances, score, plus one of the greatest film scenes ever, "Time.....to die."
2049 left me as cold and unmoved as Ryan Gosling's performance. Maybe I need to see it again.
My mood wasn't helped in the cinema by me checking the score every few minutes as Man City were smacking seven past us.
