Proud as fuck to have served MY Country, and this weekend is National Forces Weekend, where we celebrate our serving, and Ex Military. Though it has hardly been mentioned on MSM. LGBT awareness gets more column inches ( pun intended ) Than this. To all Oatcakers that have had the privilege to serve Our Country thank you all for your service. Attachment Deleted

I don’t agree with it.
If you want to honour the forces have a bank holiday the day after Remembrance Sunday. Call it Veterans Day and let me nurse my hangover off work

Great post, Matts, especially the last line. National Armed Forces Day is always celebrated locally on the last Sunday of June with a Parade in Longton Park and march off is usually @ 1400, so this year it will be on 30th June. I've never seen it myself but by all accounts it's always a very big day and is very well supported by members of the public and a great family day out as folks love watching the parade.

I agree, doesn’t get the coverage it deserves for fear of upsetting certain types. To all service personnel past and present.....thank you.I agree, and I can't understand the negative attitude, which seems so shallow, crass and ungrateful - the British Armed Forces are the finest in the world and the country should do far more to honour all who have served or are still serving. Are they more openly patriotic and positive in the USA about honouring their Armed Forces? I think they probably are - I've obviously heard of Veterans Day over there, but I wasn't exactly sure about its definition so I Ggd it and Wiki said the following, summarising their three public holidays linked to the military: Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans, that is, persons who have served in the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, a U.S. public holiday in May. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who have died while in military service.
There is another military holiday, Armed Forces Day, a minor U.S. remembrance that also occurs in May, which honors those currently serving in the U.S. military.

The people who disrespect servicemen most in this country are the Government who send them into their grubby financially motivated conflicts and then leave them to rot.
13,000 homeless servicemen battling the shambles of Universal Credit and relying on charity to pick up the slack.
That's the biggest travesty

That's the biggest travesty Throughout the centuries it’s always been the same, whether it was politicians or Kings and Queens and I think there is an acceptance in the armed services around this. What is bang out of order is the dicks within this country who have a pop at our armed forces, who are just doing their job, by branding them baby killers, fascists, blood thirsty murderers, etc etc. These very sort think you can negotiate with bullies and that if we had no defence others would simply leave us alone. I think we can all agree the questionable motives on occasions around committing our armed forces to conflict, but what is unacceptable and unforgivable is not to support them as a nation once the decision has been made. That is why HM forces will always have my support.

I agree, if you are against specific conflicts, you protest at Governments not serviceman, I do feel though that if you want to increase the overall respect for serviceman, it would help greatly if the Government backed up their hollow words and didn’t leave many of them on the scrapheap when they return from various follies, often physically or mentally injured. That is where the real disgrace lies.

Mainly by people who generally hate our country, and everything that we stand for, and have never done anything decent for anyone other than themselves. Bloody cowards to boot.

Bet you have had stronger fags. Oh, That works on so many levels... Oh how we chuckled year after year, wedding after wedding, birthday after birthday, party after party, as soon as some witty wag found out someone in the room was in the RN they'd ask the dj to put that on, it was hilarious, every single time, hilarious... Sailing by Rod Stewart at the end was obligatory apparently.

I know you have suggested contacting my employer in the past to try to get me sacked for some of the things I have said, but even by your standards thats below the belt.
