Going north or south on the A4069 through the Black Mountains in SW Wales. A great road in a car, but outstanding on a motorbike.
Just about any road in the Highlands of Scotland, but I’ll plump for the Applecross Pass (Bealach na Ba) in Wester Ross for stunning scenery and superb hairpin bends. Although it has become a little too busy with the advent of the North Coast 500.
And, as a little treat on the way northwards, the M6 up through the lake district isn’t too shabby.

I know it's hardly heavenly to some but when I drive to Conwy and see a glimpse of the sea as I approach my destination of Penmaenmawr I'm in heaven.

Shame the Buxton road has been ruined by speed cameras, fantastic road completely spoiled.
The Yorkshire Dales are on my list, they look superb.

In my days driving a hgv I used to love doing the Anglesey route a55 all along the coast which from my elevated position in my cab gave me wonderful views

the Raqqa Road (think it was that) between the UAE and Oman is a stunner of a road, stupidly long straight with no speed restrictions and next to no traffic on it, at night the desert was stunning

I will be shitting mysen I used to hate the Dartford Bridge lol The Millau Viaduct is a beautiful structure. There is a viewing point on the way south which is worth stopping at. (there isn't one south of the bridge) And, if you've got the time, it's worth leaving the motorway and going exploring the road that runs under the bridge. You get some great views of it.

Penmaenmawr has brilliant views over Puffin island and a fabulous beach. Then a night on the piss in Conwy or at the Mulberry next to the harbour can't beat it.

In the Yorkshire Dales, loads - of which a few (1) The drive up Arkengarthdale from Reeth, to Tan Hill along the Long Causeway and then dropping off into Cumbria and down into Kirkby Stephen (2) the drive up Swaledale from Reeth, through Gunnerside, Muker, Thwaite and then Keld (3) any of the cut-through roads over the top between Wensleydale and Swaledale (4) dropping down into Dentdale through Deepdale. IMHO, walking up Langstrothdale on a summer's day from Buckden all the way over the top into Sleddale and then down to Hawes is the best.
I've been lucky to travel quite a lot, and been to some spectacular places such as down into the volcano craters in Hawaii, but for me, the most heavenly journey on earth is still in Staffordshire, on foot from Walk Mill near Copmere up the lane to Bishop's Offley, when the deep verges and high hedges are awash with blooms in the early summer and the air is sweet. I'm not a religious man, but if there is such a thing as an afterlife, I thoroughly hope the path to it leads up that lane and my old Nan from Burton is waiting at the top, sat in her armchair.

Best thing for midges, bar none, is Avon Skin so Soft. It’s not actually an anti-mosquito or anti-midge spray, but they absolutely hate it and won’t come near you. It’s weird, but it does work I promise you!

Thinking of doing the Scottish route 66 over 7 days camping, has anyone done it? As my user name suggests I live on the route of the North Coast 500 ( aka the Scottish route 66 ) about 10 miles west of John O' Groats. When in Caithness you might be interested in visiting the following places. The Dunnet Head lighthouse which is the most northerly point on the British mainland. There is a viewpoint nearby which overlooks Scapa Flow on the Orkney island of Hoy. Scapa Flow was a very important naval anchorage during both world wars and Dunnet Head still has the remains of some of the radar stations used to help protect Scapa Flow. The Castle of Mey which the Queen Mother used to own and is now visited by Prince Charles in the summer. The Wick Heritage Centre which I consider to be the best tourist attraction in Caithness. Also in Wick is the Pulteney whisky distillery which is well worth a visit. The village of Dunnet has the best beach in Caithness which is sometimes used for surfing. There is also a small gin and vodka distillery in Dunnet. John O'Groats is rather touristy and I would suggest visiting the nearby Duncansby Head lighthouse and taking a short walk to see the Stacks of Duncansby. If you're lucky you might see some puffins. From John O'Groats and Scrabster ( near Thurso ) you can sail over to the Orkney islands which have many interesting places to visit. On the day of his death in 1916 Lord Kitchener ( famous for the Your Country Needs You poster ) sailed from Scrabster to Scapa flow to board a ship for Russia which was sunk by a mine laid by a German U boat. On your way back or to Caithness it's well worth visiting the rather quaint village of Dornoch where Madonna and Guy Ritchie were married in the cathedral. Enjoy your visit to the Highlands but beware of the midges and keep well covered up to avoid ticks which can cause Lyme disease. I suggest that you check the things that you can do to avoid getting Lyme disease when walking in the country.

Causeway Coastal drive in NI is something. M6 North is lovely. On that on Friday into Scotland Agree with both, did the NI one last year all the way to Derry. Drove to Edinburgh last month, went to go up the scenic route from Moffat, climbed up out of Moffat and the road was shut, diverted back to the m74 at the next junction on a B road, which had a bit of a drop on the passenger side, Mrs was crapping herself 😁

Have you done the Salthill coast Rd in Galway or the Atlantic Way routes? Take some beating and quench your thirst on the way

I am going on a road trip soon to the French riviera (bucket list) part of the route will take me over the worlds tallest Bridge? I will be shitting mysen I used to hate the Dartford Bridge lol They discussed this a few weeks ago on R% and a caller said he would literally take detours of over 100 miles to avoid bridges like the Avon Bridge on M5. It's called Gephyrophobia. Not to be confused with Geoffryphobia, which is a fear of odd blokes talking to pink hippos and stuffed puppets...Thats a good one Geoffry.
