Are they "new" potato chips (just made) or "new potato" chips? As a kid, I used to pull up "new potatoes" (baby potatoes) right out of the garden, dust them off and eat 'em raw. Good stuff!

Aren’t new tatters too wet for frying🥔 In theory yes but they actually have flavour though they are a touch soft when cooked

Potatoes have been around for years. What are new potatoes? First crop of the new Calendar year generally smaller and more flavoursome used often as boiling potatoes and salad potatoes Sometimes referred to as early potatoes

Potatoes have been around for years. What are new potatoes? Though we know your unending desire to post to every post, every topic, and with anything that pops into your head (no matter, in some cases, quite deluded and occasionally dangerously so, here’s an idea.... You were on a computer when you posted this, so.... 1) open Mr Google (there, that gives you an opportunity to tell us in detail you don’t use google but some other search engine) 2) type in the two scant words (maybe in order..I don’t know) 3) read what new potatoes are I Did check and it is THE first thing that comes up

Absolutely gorgeous always look forward to the five to six weeks chip shops use new potatoes One of my seasonal treats along with cobbnuts and English wet walnuts Now then cob nuts, are they also known as pig nuts? under ground things? I've heard a lot about them {from my Dad and Grandad}, looked for them, never found nor tried. Any cop? Eaten raw?

Bloody love chips done from New Potatoes. Was thinking of chipping the Jersey Royals I had for tea earlier, but decided against it in the end. Was a tough call though as I had a Barnsley chop, and chop & chips is one of my favourites.

new potato chips are fantastic, i remember from my old days working in a chippy they are much more expensive per bag, so you either pay a bit more per portion or get a smaller portion, but so good, remember once i forgot i had a left a bag in the machine that took the skin off and ruined them, boss was not happy

Can people post the locations of these chippys that are 'new potatoes' then so we can try?

Can people post the locations of these chippys that are 'new potatoes' then so we can try? Almost all chip shops switch to new potatoes in late June July As the potato wholesalers generally have run out of last years crop And are awaiting the main crop harvest

Keary Street chippy in Stoke used to do the best new potato chips, closely followed by Kinky Rob's and the one opposite it on London Road. Sadly all gone now and replaced by grotty looking take-aways.

Can't say I've tried them either I'll look out for them this Autumn. Agree with the New Potato chip thing, just had some from the local chippy, {whose chips aren't always brill}, but beautiful tonight, the right balance of 'mushiness' and crisp.

An abomination. They don’t soak up the fat properly, which leaves them greasy. They taste wrong. I used to work in a chip shop, so I speak with authority on this crucial matter.

I've never even heard of chips made with new potatoes before..... ....... but surely aren't new potatoes small, and should be eaten with their skins on, whereas chips need to be made from much bigger potatoes, eg. KE or Maris Piper??? Feel a bit thick now, and don't get this at all. PS: I got that Cheese Pie ('School Meals') recipe we were talking about, about 3 years ago, Linxy! From a very small HB cookbook called (DOH) 'School Meals'. You said it used to be one of your faves at shool. Haven't made it yet, though.

Two reasons: (1) I've hardly ever had chips (although I could live on them given half a chance) because of their very high calorie count and (2) the only boiling oil round here is used for tipping over the battlements.

I'm going to get one of those air fryer things I think, some oven chips are alright but you can't beat the 'real' thing. If that doesn't work I'm moving on to beef dripping
