So had a letter through the post saying my code was being changed from 1250L to 1043X and I called them up and they explained to me that they still had my old employer down as my primary job and my current employer was my secondary job. Fair enough, she said she'll change it and get my tax code put right, then I asked her if she could give me an estimate on how much income tax I'd be paying based on what I earn which is about £1300 a month pre-tax/NI and she told me that I wouldn't be paying any tax as it's below the threshold but if I put 1250L into the online government tax calculator it shows I do pay tax, so is she wrong or is the website wrong?

She's dumb. Anything over £12,500 divided by 12 = £1041.67 per month you will pat tax at basic rate 20%.
Anything over £8,424 divided by 12 = £702 and you'll pay NI at 12%.
So on £1,300 you'll have tax of £52 and NI of £72 deducted giving you net pay of £1,176
The first pay packet under the new code will be higher because April and May have suffered excess tax deductions under the old code.
If you're a Scottish taxpayer ask Nicola Sturgeon or Partick if he's in a good mood

I didn't pay any tax at all for April and May. The letter was dated June 4th but I was paid on the 7th and still no income tax.

I changed jobs in April, from a job with a company car, to a job without one, much higher wages and a car allowance. And a generous mileage allowance for business miles.
But because I got a final pay packet from old firm, with company car, and a new pay packet from new firm, they reallocated my company car allowance, and calculated that I am a high earner likely to owe them money by the end of the year.
So my code dropped from 1250L to 400L.
Anyway, I put them right, and it's back up to about 1180L as I will owe them a bit as new job puts me on higher band.
But because I dont get all of my fuel, if I do 10,000 miles this year getting to and from work ( Private mileage ) I get a nice rebate next april, and my code for 2020/21 goes up to 1550L. But they can only apply this increase AFTER you have claimed back for a previous year.
