My son sent me a brief message for which I am grateful. My 29th wedding anniversary as well (technically) never actually got divorced. Separated for 7 of those, I didn't send her a card.

When I found out who mine is will send him a card. Have narrowed it down to the Mayo Hurling team, a postman called Gerry , several window cleaners and Pat Mustard

Mine was raised 10 miles away from the epicentre and it was God's own job to get him to support Stoke although eventually I got to make him as miserable as the rest of us. Harry's lads are bloody Southerners

The bell shoots straight off the top of the manometer thingy and the SAS are thinking of introducing it as part of their elite training regime on the basis that if you can cope with THAT you can cope with anything. All together, now: Grrrrr......

The best was when he was about 7 and I tried the old line "Don't you think you ought to support your local team son?" The little sod replied "OK dad if you want to give the Alex a go I'm up for it"

I decided to go to the Crown, I reckon the last time I went there was 25 years ago and it was excellent. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for decent food at a reasonable price and very good, friendly service. π Do they still have a spittoon in the corner sitting on the sawdust floor?

What's the height of confusion? Father's Day in Knutton Cheers for that Lord it's where I was born. We know! The blue & white plaque is there on the house, for all to see. They're usually just lettering, but this one includes an unusual ornamentation of a little stick man, running. And being 'followed' by a stick German Shepherd.

They're usually just lettering, but this one includes an unusual ornamentation of a little stick man, running. And being 'followed' by a stick German Shepherd. Many years ago I was at a nice party with a fair few friends who'd done well for themselves. The question of "where were you born" came up. One of my friends who's mother was evacuated out of Southampton during the war gave a winning smile and told everyone it gave him the opportunity of being born in an Edward Lutyens house. I said I can do better than that, the house I was born in was at that very moment boarded up

'Ang on, 'ang on........... if the Crown & Anchor is the one on a corner at the top of the town in Stone I went there for lunch a couple of years ago and it was absolutely excellent in every respect. The food & service were top-notch. A very pleasant Portuguese chap was the proprietor, although I didn't think to ask him to teach me any Portuguese swear words (a la EEFC). It had great decor in muted colours and looked quite newly-done. I think they'd had a bad fire there - maybe the roof??? - perhaps 6 or 7 years ago, but I'm only guessing at these times. I do recommend it for a visit if anyone's considering it.
