I'm a big fan of Jo Brand Very funny woman Also has N.Staffs connections and by all accounts a very nice person However she's got this very wrong. She's the next door neighbour of my mate's parents in South London. I'm from North Staffs. This woman is virtually a Stokie.

The precedent is now set they could do nothing as long as they dress it up as a joke, we can all crack on advocating whatever just state you have no intention of doing it yourself all's well. A comedian on LBC has just been defending Jo Brand, using the "freedom of speech" argument. I guarantee if someone had said what I suggested their career would be over, and she would be saying something completely different. What if someone said "let's push Owen Jones off a roof", or "why don't we have another holocaust, starting with Alan Sugar?". Can you imagine the outcry? The simple truth is some people are deemed fair game, like Farage, Rees-Mogg, Trump or Johnson. That's why Jo Brand got laughs, and that's why she'll still find work. There would be an outcry about the holocaust joke, as it's joking about something historically factual that resulted in the death of six million people. The same for the lynching example you gave. Even then, for me personally it could depend on the context - I've heard jokes about the Holocaust that have generally not been considered offensive, as the butt of the joke has not been the six million people that have died. The pushing Owen Jones off a roof is more similar to Jo Brand's comments - as it is more random and not based on anything that has actually happened (however wrong throwing a milkshake at someone is, it's a world away from throwing acid at someone). I think there would be a similar outrage if a comedian talked about have a desire to push Jones off a roof, and I imagine Jones and his supoorters would react in a similar way to Farage and his followers.

There's some things you don't say on national tv or radio that you can get away with in a comedy club. She knows that, she's not stupid.....but she thinks she's untouchable like so many left wingers in the public eye. A different era but Stan Boardmans career ended when he told that fokker joke on the Des O'Connor show

Well she's got away with it seems What is it that you want to see happen to her? She says she's freelance so the BBC should no longer give her any work, they don't even need to sack her. Is she ever on any other channels besides the BBC ?

There are two outcomes to all of this, either... 1) Jo Brand is guilty of an horrendous 'hate crime', and she should now be sacked, censored, de-platformed & un-personed. Or... 2) People should be allowed to think/say/joke about whatever the fuck they like, and if it 'offends' you well tough shit. Which one are you going with? Or there's option 3, declare anyone "right wing" fair game, while crying about Abbott getting bullied on Question Time or Jezza's photo being shot at by soldiers. Have you noticed how anything that isn't left wing is classed as 'far right' in some quarters. You may not disagree with Farage but he's certainly not 'far' right, as the make-up of TBP proves.

I thought she did that every night, given the state of her. She reminds me of John Sargeant.

In what sense? It turns out the kind of people who decry the ‘snowflake generation’ and that ‘no one can take a joke these days without getting offended’ turn out to be remarkably thin-skinned when the tables are turned. But threatening rape - or at least admitting that you’ve given the issue quite a lot of thought - against a sitting MP is apparently absolutely fine... Number 2 Hands up who hasn't made a joke about something a bit controversial or found one funny.

Most people have, but not on national media big difference she has responsibilities to behave within certain parameters she overstepped those again.

There's plenty of violent angry left wing fascists out there at the moment who may well interpret this as a good idea, how can this not have been deemed at least a hate crime ? she is obviously mentally unstable to have thoughts like this.
