Driving from Stoke to Longton around lunchtime is like driving through a nuclear wasteland. Where once there were people getting there snappin, there is now an emptiness. I worked at Aynesleys and Wegwoods in my youth and they were the happiest places I ever worked in, much better than so called better jobs! Interesting point on women. They ruled the Potbanks! I spent a few school holidays as a 16 year old working at Midwinters in Middleport..... terrifying thank God that sexist behaviour has now been outlawed

I wonder what the reaction would be if a right wing comedian suggested lynching David Lammy or Diane Abbott?
Would that be an OK joke to tell?

The precedent is now set they could do nothing as long as they dress it up as a joke, we can all crack on advocating whatever just state you have no intention of doing it yourself all's well.

A comedian on LBC has just been defending Jo Brand, using the "freedom of speech" argument. I guarantee if someone had said what I suggested their career would be over, and she would be saying something completely different. What if someone said "let's push Owen Jones off a roof", or "why don't we have another holocaust, starting with Alan Sugar?". Can you imagine the outcry? The simple truth is some people are deemed fair game, like Farage, Rees-Mogg, Trump or Johnson. That's why Jo Brand got laughs, and that's why she'll still find work.

There seems to be a bit of a correlation between people who believe in 'freedom of speech' when it suits their agenda, but also are now calling for Brand to be sacked for this.
'Snowflake generation' - is it?

'Snowflake generation' - is it? Answer my previous question, then? Would jokes on lynching be acceptable? Is there a line to be drawn, or does anything go? I'm all for that, if that's the way you want to go, but I very much doubt it is.

She's an ex mental health nurse some of these NHS mental health type nurses seem a bit fascist in their views similar to that fat trog screaming abuse at the Trump supporter the other week, what is wrong with these loving, caring individuals have their political views warped their tiny minds ? Bit harsh on Billybigbollocks I'd say Nah it’s a fair comment Fel.

I’d agree with all the claims of faux outrage at a so called joke and accept that it was just that. However wasn’t it Jo Brand who was so outraged by a comment by Carol Thatcher in the Green room at the BBC that her complaint led to Thatcher being dropped by the corporation and hardly heard of again? That wasn’t even in the public domain and wasn’t thought of as freedom of speech by the BBC.

In recent months we have learned that it is ok to throw bricks at people in the streets as long as you cover your face, throw milkshake at politicians you don't agree with if you tell plod it slipped out of your hand, wish the IRA had blown chequers up with the cabinet in it if you are an alcoholic drug taking left wing comedian, protest outside schools scaring children and closing the school down if your beliefs go against the school curriculum and finally incite violence against politicians you don't agree with by throwing acid at them if you are a left wing comedian freedom of speech or erosion of the law.

'Snowflake generation' - is it? I think it's more to do with double standards In what sense? It turns out the kind of people who decry the ‘snowflake generation’ and that ‘no one can take a joke these days without getting offended’ turn out to be remarkably thin-skinned when the tables are turned. But threatening rape - or at least admitting that you’ve given the issue quite a lot of thought - against a sitting MP is apparently absolutely fine...

Seems she likes to complain about others jokes then jokes about sending shit to another set of political opponents, hypocritical left wing so called comedian. As the wine flowed Baroness Thatcher's daughter, who won the television reality show I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in Australia, referred to the black tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga as a golliwog. The comedienne Jo Brand, who is not noted for her sympathies to the Conservative Party, demanded a retraction but Thatcher refused. Brand is the subject of a separate complaint to police from the British National Party after she joked on another BBC programme about sending excrement to people on a leaked list of members of the far-right group. Adrian Chiles, the presenter, who last year became the most viewed man on television, also objected. The three of them had been in the Green Room, the private lounge where artistes and production staff relax after the show, for around an hour. Production staff were in and out of the private room. Thatcher, 55, flatly refused to apologise to Chiles. After the drinks broke-up – Thatcher and Brand had even looked uncomfortable next to each other on the sofa on the television set – the former Prime Minister's daughter expected to hear no more about it. But, 24 hours after the Thursday night transmission, Thatcher was telephoned by Tessa Finch, the programme editor, who told her that a newspaper had been tipped off about the "golliwog" remark and the exchange of words with Brand and Chiles.

It's called using the same tactics as the left- what's good for the goose and all that. My definition of a hypocrite would be Soubry pissing her knickers over being called a Nazi and then applauding Lammy when he said the same thing about others a week or two later.

There are two outcomes to all of this, either... 1) Jo Brand is guilty of an horrendous 'hate crime', and she should now be sacked, censored, de-platformed & un-personed. Or... 2) People should be allowed to think/say/joke about whatever the fuck they like, and if it 'offends' you well tough shit. Which one are you going with?
