The worst crosser of a football on a consistent basis I've ever seen. Cheers for the effort though eh Erik, bye.

Genuinely am miffed about this.
Pieters out and Ward in - oh it's up there with the worst. Even 5 season back we would have had the better player.

Stephen Ward in Erik out !!!!! I hope to fuck NJ knows what he’s doing because if we aren’t challenging after 10 games he’s going to get horrendous stick for this type of business Maybe wait till we actually sign the Pieters replacement.

Good enough for a Premier league club but not good enough for us it seems. They plan a flat 4-4-2 but we're aiming for a diamond so that's kind of a moot point.

For all those moaning about ‘Pieters out Ward in’:
Pieters was likely on around 25k a week. We haven’t got that sort of money to be paying out on a second choice left back. He’s not exactly what Jones is after in a fullback, so there’s no point keeping him. And it’s not as if he set the world on fire in our first six months in the championship. Pieters himself isn’t going to be happy playing second fiddle in the championship. A squad player for a Burnley type club in the premier league is ideal for him really and gets his Wages off our books and allows us to bring in a replacement more suitable to Jones’ system.
Ward has signed a year contract and at his age he’s obviously happy to be a squad player. Hopefully there will be someone coming in as first choice leftback with Pieters going.
Our squad and team needed a massive overhaul and a fresh start. Clinging on to Pieters wouldn’t have solved anything.

Is this a joke? Forget arnie, bojan, Begovic, butland, shaq, etobo etc He cost £3m and played nearly 200 games for us in the Premier League. He wasn’t technically the most gifted which is why he won’t be remembered with the likes of the players you mentioned but he never hid and hardly missed a game through injury. I would agree with almost all that except the injury bit, my memory of the last couple of seasons was he was injured or carrying an injury quite a bit. Still one of our better signings I'd say and to improve on him would have cost a lot of money. Good luck to him.

You’ve got no idea. I can’t see him being on big money. And more importantly, he’s obviously prepared to be a squad player for us in the championship. Whereas Pieters wanted to be a regular starter or to leave. There’s no point keeping him in that case. And personally, I’m more than happy to clear the lines of most of the old squad who took us down. A fresh start is needed. Ward is on a one year contract and isnt going to cost us the earth. He’s also by all accounts a model professional of the like Jones is keen to fill the dressing with. A happy, good egg in Ward, or a disgruntled part of the old regime Pieters (who realistically would be on more money)

Players brought in so far apart from Powell are poor in my opinion. Everyone to there own but think Jones out of his depth. 3 poor managers since Hughes sacking. He can’t even attract his old players.😂 I’ll give him 15 games prove me wrong.

Reasons that actually should be looked on as a positive in our manager's favour if you were more inclined to look for the positives.

Will miss Ekker
The best LB we've had in quite a while, and part of some super memorable moments in the Prem under Hughes. May have slipped his form a bit in his relegation season and under Rowett, but IMO he's always been a class act. Rightly so, he should be jumping at the chance of getting to play Premier League football with Burnley.
Whatever happens, good luck Ekker.

Swapped Erik for Ward. Well done dyche, had our pants down. We might want to see what Ward can offer us before throwing out statements like that. Ward will be on less money too Provided we sign a quality left back then good business for everyone Eric will be back up there, good luck to him Good signing for Stoke but time to move on.

Don't be daft Ward was out of contract, in no position to ask for big money Despite the pay cuts Eric would still be on at least £20k a week From a purely money point if view it's good business.

A solid if unspectacular servant for the past 6 years or so. He’ll suit Burnley’s game of a flat back 4 and defensive football down to the ground. But from our perspective this makes complete sense to me, he’s not the type of fullback you want as an attacking outlet in any way shape or form. A weird end to his time here, but a deal that suits all parties concerned I think.

If his own players stayed at Luton that point would be valid.
