Pound for pound one of our better signings of the last decade.
He needed a new challenge though and we need a different type of player for the diamond.
If we’ve managed to get a couple of million for him it’s win win for everyone.

No sign of any fee? Another great coup for the PIZZA BOYS. what ever would we do without them? Good luck Ekker you will be remembered fondly Ffs any excuse to have a moan, as he is nearing the end of his contract we will be happy to remove him from the wage bill For the record I think Eric is a very good lb but struggled to play wb and his nighttime habits were not going to impress nj

Unsurprisingly as it' Percy, Burnley press seem to be confirming it. But still no mention of fee Dutch international? Bit of a loose term that isn’t it?

Got to be relatively cheap but then again we are selling our players we supposedly don't rate, to a club in a higher division.... never thought it would happen so I thought around 2m a while back.
Good luck Erik, I have bags of respect for what you did at this club, wishing you all the best!

Still only 30 and PL experience you’d expect 2-3m. Last year of contract though, To get nothing would be ridiculous. We seem to have something going with Burnley that’s 4 players in the last season now.

He'll suit Burnley down t'ground.
In all fairness they've got by far the best deal in the Ward/Pieters club swap. As much as I never particularly rated Pieters, he was comfortably one of our better performing players on the first half of last season,(not hard I know) and was a more than adequate full back in this division. Jones' decision to fuck him off was baffling last season and is even more baffling now hes replaced him with a journeyman in his mid thirties.

Incredibly relieved to get one of the players properly sold. Even if it means swapping Pieters for Stephen Ward which is far from an upgrade. This is of course assuming we don’t get much of a fee, which we know we won’t.

Delighted for Erik. When I had a chat with him a few weeks ago both him and his wife were desperate to stay in the Cheshire area which they consider their long term home. He still has something to offer at Premier League level which clearly Stephen Ward doesn't. Smart bit of business by Dyche.

You are relieved to get rid of a player even it means swapping then for an older player who isn’t that different and probably worse?

Forget arnie, bojan, Begovic, butland, shaq, etobo etc He cost £3m and played nearly 200 games for us in the Premier League. He wasn’t technically the most gifted which is why he won’t be remembered with the likes of the players you mentioned but he never hid and hardly missed a game through injury.

I wonder if this will free up a space on the wage bill. Next in, a left back as competition for ward and maclean?

Signing Stephen Ward was lunacy however being in the position we’re in we have to sell players. I can’t and won’t defend the transfer policy of the club at the moment but selling players almost any of them is a good thing.

Remember how it all started....with him putting his fist through a dugout?! He's been a real good signing but nows the time to part company. It's sad to see him deemed one of the 'bomb squad'. Do players ever leave us on good terms/without a hitch?

Not good enough for Stoke and Jones but good enough for a bloke like Dyche. Anyway.....good move for him and a deserved move to a higher league. Good luck Ekker. No, not good enough as a wing back but more than good enough for a backs to the wall flat back four, he'll do okay there but we're looking for a different type of full back these days and he's not it, it'll also save us some cash on wages, its a good move for all involved.

Where is this different type of fullback though? I can’t see there’s anyone coming. Everyone were being linked with is going elsewhere and it’s not Stephen Ward is it?

Never had a problem with Pieters but obviously time to move on.
I do remember those cheering when he got injured v West Ham and what happened afterwards. Imagine cheering one of your own getting hurt when we were 1-0 down at home

This board went into meltdown following many a Pieters shit show. I'd have thought he was on big money and Jones clearly didn't want him anywhere near the squad for whatever reason. One down, 7 to go.

One down, 7 to go. Well said. He could and should have gone when he was outed for being out the night before a match - booze or no booze involved. He completely lost me after that incident.

I hope to fuck NJ knows what he’s doing because if we aren’t challenging after 10 games he’s going to get horrendous stick for this type of business

Class attitude, on the piss before a game and apparently showed his bollocks when Jones was appointed by trying to show him up on day one!
So long Eric, desperate to stay in that rented accommodation weren't you to benefit from that shit housewives show, sums you up.
