Be interesting to see what fee we can get for him Would imagine anyone coming to replace him will be on about half the wages too Free transfer with Stoke paying him off probably He’s worth 2 million quid of anyone’s money.

Thought someone like Huddersfield would have had him twelve months ago, Burnley maybe however seems he doesn't float any boats over here.

I think if we get his wages off our hands then it's good for both parties. Thanks Erik, you had a few faults but you were a great team player.

The club ideally need to not create an accounting loss from this kind of situation though and so may mean we need an amount on top.

Meanwhile, the Turkish club, Denzilispor, promoted to D1, has positioned itself. Arrived in January in Amiens, Erik Pieters was an important craftsman in maintaining the club Picard . The Dutch full-back has an extension offer, judged to be consistent internally. The Dutch international (30 years) also has a proposal from Denizlispor, club promoted in Turkish D1. Pieters is also waiting for an offer from PSV Eindhoven. He wants to give himself time before deciding.

Should be getting at least a couple of million, only 30 and performed superbly at Amiens last season

I really don’t get this talk of letting him go for free.
He’s still a very good player and well worth a few million.

View AttachmentView AttachmentMet this dude at Mykonos baggage claim. Had a quick chat unfortunately can't throw anymore light on why he went to Amiens. Maintains no falling out with manager just am opportunity to play regularly and took it. 'Will you be at Stoke next season?'....'who knows,I love the club but its unlikely'. The wife said her and Erik would like to stay in the UK. Both very pleasant. So remains a mystery as to why Jones allowed him to go when we had no alternative. Surely he's a better option at LB than Clucas and the woeful McClean. Wearing his skinny jeans no less! Clear statement of intent he is off to Willem II

PSV have already loaned in a highly-rated young Spanish LB, but think I read something suggesting they may still want Pieters for depth.

It's not looking likely we're going to be able to replace him with anything better so we may as well keep him surely.

It's not looking likely we're going to be able to replace him with anything better so we may as well keep him surely. A very good and under estimated, flat back four full back and consistent year on year with his blocking stats. As a marauding full back I think it's fair to say he was limited. I'm not saying we have better at the club, but I would be concerned he would be a weak link in this set up come the start of the season. Same for Bruno. I'm wondering if jonse has convinced Maclean to do the job. I don't see him fitting anywhere else in the squad.

I’d prefer us to go through the season with clucas at left back than i would Erik. Because? Hard to see why you would prefer to see a slower player, out of position play rather than an international full back who was probbaly our best defender in the half season he played last year

One we have to travel in faith with NJ on l on playing matters alone he’d walk into the 20 , but clearly they feel he doesn’t fit and we’ve to place out faith in the only man in the club management not go be proven a serial failure in the football world of the last three or four years .
