Midfield looks very poor, I'm not sure we can win with that midfield.

Not a good line up.
England are on a roll, don't fuck about.
He'll regret it

Are there any promising centre halves and central midfielders coming through?
I like Gomez but no one else stands out at CB?
Then you’ve got Loftus-Cheek who is sublime imo and Rice who will be really good in the next few years but not much more? Maddison is another attacking mid.
It’s where we look weakest especially centre back.

I mean deeper players. Even Loftus-Cheek isn’t that mind. There is a glut of ones who you’d want as the most advanced.

Why isn't Lingard starting?

Is Cook at Bournemouth injured? I suppose he's a deeper midfielder who might get his chance next season.

Why isn't Lingard starting? Because he’s had a pretty crap season and is lucky to be in the squad? *ignores that Delph has barely played and hopes no one will notice*!

The more I think about it the more I'm surprised Foden has been ignored tbh. It's not like he plays as a #10 at Citeh is it? when he does play, he plays in a 3 like we're playing tonight and for instance, he's played more minutes than Hudson-Odio surely? and Southgate threw him in early.
Going forward you'd have to think we'll have to adapt the formation to introduce the likes of Foden, Maddison and even Grealish will surely get a look in next season as well?! I can't see Southgate being able to ignore these types of players for much longer.

No build up at all for the game anywhere. We're in the semi-final and no-one has a clue how to see it. The FA should be ashamed!

On paper, has to be one of the worst midfields ever, though it could surprise us.

On paper, has to be one of the worst midfields ever, though it could surprise us. It’s not that bad. Rice is the long term DM option for sure. Barkley on his day is a good midfielder. Delph is too but an odd one.

Barkley's been in good form for England so can't really question his inclusion.

What the hell went wrong there.

But they never really worked as a unit in an England shirt. Indeed the best performance from midfielders in that generation came from Butt in 2002 and Hargreaves in 2006. Rice Loftus-Cheek Foden in the long run seems better to me than the ones you listed. Not as individuals but as a unit that works.

They couldn’t play together. Sven should’ve had the balls to drop one of them for a boring water carrier type like Hargreaves, but he didn’t.

I'd of been tempted to include Grealish somewhere in the squad for this tourno, he's had a great season for Villa & can certainly create things..
