Interestingly, this is the second player that I am aware of with the surname Lindsay, to have signed for Stoke. I remember full back Alec Lindsay, an ex Liverpool player who appeared for Stoke in 1977/78. Memorably, by current standards, he converted 3 penalties in his first five matches for Stoke and made 20 appearances. After George Eastham was sacked as Manager and replaced by Alan Durban, Keith Scott became the preferred full back and Lindsay eventually went to America.

Alec Lindsay HAD been a top-quality left-back, but was well past his best when he signed for us. Geoff Scott went on to become the first-choice left-back in Alan Durban's promotion - winning team in 78-79. His speciality was hitting long crossfield diagonal balls to the opposite wing (Pulis would have loved him!). Unfortunately he was out of his depth in the First Division and eventually moved on to leicester, I think, where he played centre-back.

True story The day he made his debut at Stoke ( Boxing Day I think ) he pulled his car up outside Harry’s bar and asked us where the stadium was Funny how some things come flooding back 😊
