Just came across this on YouTube pretty sure it was the 1st season of Match of the Day on TV. It was 2months after I moved away fom Stoke to live in Lichfield as a 10 year old.

Yes, it was the first season (1964/65) of Match of the Day.
From Wikipedia:
Match of the Day was [first] screened on BBC Two on 22 August 1964, and showed highlights of a game between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield. The programme's audience was estimated at only 20,000, less than half of the attendance at the ground.
Match of the Day was not universally welcomed in the football world; in 1965 several clubs attempted to block a renewed deal with the BBC in fear of a drop in gate attendances at matches. Eventually, a compromise was reached where the BBC agreed not to reveal which match was to be shown until after the day's play had concluded.

Loved how the goalie took no stick from the crowd despite how close they were....couldn’t see that happening now?

Dennis Viollet, a class footballer we could do with now! My Owd man says it's a toss up between Violet and Hudson who is the best player he has seen play for Stoke.(plus a honourable mention to Jimmy Mcilroy)

Loved how the goalie took no stick from the crowd despite how close they were....couldn’t see that happening now? The great Lawry Leslie who Stoke bought from West Ham after promotion....probably why he was getting stick from home crowd.. Lawry passed away only 2 days ago aged 84. RIP Lawry.

What was the team that day? Was it the season after when we came back from 3-0 down?

I have really fond memories of Lawrie, Lawrie. Those memories blur with time, but I remember him being very good. I wish I could relive some of those days!

What was the team that day? Was it the season after when we came back from 3-0 down? The game we came back from 3-0 to win 4-3 was 1967/68, that game was also featured on MOTD.

Seems like Stoke - West Ham games were a popular choice for MOTD
