They do say that some fans have no idea about football! Joe Allen has consistently been our most outstanding team player! Mate Ive played football at a decent level i do have an idea about football - the fact that we have no identified role for joe allen means that he should be sold on add to that £10m for 29 year old and its fucking academic. Can you do more keepy ups than riccyfuller93?!

I'm not sure that he's the sort of physical player that we lack in midfield.

I really doubt that anyone will put the money down for Allen though. Soon to be 30, we'd want £12m-£15m? Maybe more? And he's on 50k+. Just can't see a stampede. Etebo , as much as he and his agent will try and stir the pot, again can't really see anyone making us an unturndownable offer. And Clucas will compete for one of those slots too. He also still seems inclined to wait for Ndiaye. So hard to see anything happening in midfield for a while yet, if at all (apart from the holding role and No.10)? That's as may be Grapey, however, the trouble with those three as 'fixtures' is that they just weren't good enough to pull up any trees last season (& I, personally don't see that changing next tbh) so where does that leave us?
Even if he sweet talks N'diaye, his mercenary heart won't be in it & we shouldn't even think about him as a regular after last season's Leeds game. Totally aside from the fact I wouldn't want him, I just can't see him as a MF fixture here again.
So perhaps Nath needs to make a space?
How in earth was he going to squeeze Harry Arter in with the same problem?

How in earth was he going to squeeze Harry Arter in with the same problem?I agree that it's hard to work out who may be part of the solution and who's definitely proven they are part of the problem But how do you make the space? We've already got a dozen that we know are part of the problem that we're struggling to shift. I do think there's a lot more to come from Etebo, so would very happily keep him. I'd let Allen go for a 'fair' offer (whatever that is!) But if such an offer doesn't come, what do we do? Let him go for a low fee? I've got an odd feeling Clucas may do well next season - but I think we can be sure that we won't be getting any decent offers for him. And hard to know what to do with Ndiaye, Doesn't sound like we're being bombarded with offers. Galatasaray may try to take the piss with another season loan and would have thought we'd snap anyone's hand off for £6m+ (whether that was China, the Gulf, Mars?) But in the absence of that, what do we do? Sadly can see another late loan for him once it's become clear nothing else will materialise. Same with Wimmer probably.

I aren’t doubting that Joe Allen is a good footballer its more a case of I don’t see what he brings to this team - aside from working hard that another player like Sawyers couldn’t offer. Sawyers out-put to create from deep and to drive with the ball is far better than JA. Add to that that we’d get atleast £10m for a 29 year old and again its academic.

Should be the sort of player we go for. Sell Allen and Ndiaye and invest some of the money on this fella. Certainly offload Ndiaye I think that Allen gets a lot of unfair negative criticism, often been left to cover for team mates last season I can’t understand why we don’t play him in the exact role that he plays for Wales

So essentially we are, as always it seems, in a right old pickle with the MF.
And that, without a geriatric player coach yet to arrive.
Dear me.
Not even sure we're that much better off up top or at the back or between the sticks.
I'll say one thing: if Nath can translate his, let's just say "ambitious", words into deeds with the squad as it stands, he needs a ruddy great statue commissioning pronto.
Let's cling to the usual June / July / Aug (up to the 31st in years gone by) mantra:
It's still early days and all that.
n.b. "Mars" would be just perfect for N'diaye in my book. alongside Jupiter and Saturn for McClean and Ince while we're at it.

Hope he's better than the last midfield bloke we bought from Brentford. We got absolutely rinsed on that one, and that's being kind. They must still be laughing at Griffin Park. when we went to Brentford last season their fans couldn't believe just how much we had fucked Woods up they think he is a great player . He looked it at first until he settled in then it all went tits up .

I remember about 2015 we were "monitoring" someone at Celtic named Virgil Van Dijk and we somehow let that one go. yep and Andy Robertson and Harry Maguire, that said most clubs have loads of examples of those that got away. Spot on! If I remember correctly the Vale released Ray Kennedy as a youngster who then went on to play for Arsenal Liverpool and England. Shit happens.

A very weak argument! The level of football you have played at does not define what sort of footballing brain you have. It's your point of view that Joe Allen has "no identified role"! Probably the first name the manager puts on the team sheet and yet feel he has no identified role. Generally the first player in our team to press and yet "no identified role"! The best ball winner we have yet he has "no identified role"! Covers more ground than most of our midfield players yet "no identified role". I would suggest that every manager we have had has had a clearly defined role for Joe Allen!

For the money we could get for Allen we could buy two players that would have a more positive impact upon the team. I don't dislike him, I just don't know what he really 'does'. He's OK at most things, brilliant at nothing.

I am in the camp of if we could sell at the right price there could or should be better value out there. This would be different if we were still a premier league team but we are not.
