Saves me making a thread every time I watch something that I want to post about
Just watched ' The Cleaning Lady' tonight, interesting watch. Quite a dark and thematically fucked up film. Watched ' The Curse of La Llorona' the other night, out of all the 'Conjuring' universe movies this one is probably the best of the bunch I thought. I've always found the folklore it's based on to be interesting too. Also watched the latest season of 'Slasher' on Netflix this week, it's a standard 8 episode whodunnit? series but plenty of gore and some nice kills I thought. Best season of the three that are currently out, the first season being the weakest. Re-watched ' Us' with the girlfriend as well, I still think it's absolute shite. ' Matriarch' if you come across it, don't bother it's wank. The same with ' Mercy Black' on Netflix, that's shite. ' The Russian Bride' has one of the most mental endings to a horror/thriller I've seen in awhile, the term "Cocaine fuelled revenge massacre" come to mind. Half-tempted to watch the new ' I Spit On Your Grave' supposed to be a direct sequel to the original including the original woman however it's had shit reviews and it's 2hrs and 30 minutes long which seems fucking MENTAL for a rape revenge horror. ' Ma' and ' Child's Play' reboot is out this month.

Wouldn't call it horror but 'The Changeling' with George C Scott is a good watch. More of a ghost story.
Do love a goof horror, can't take them seriously but you can't beat the 80s for the best era

Part of me would like a remake but I don't think any current actors would do it justice.

Was Burgess Meredith in it or getting mixed up? Must try and dig that out. EDIT- just found on Dailymotion. MR P N Guin was in it. Good memory I have One to watch again

Really hope that's true. 'Motel Hell' and 'The Crazies' always remain a couple of my fave lower budget films.

Good thread
I could be here forever
(BTW I second The Changeling)
I'll post one recommendation a day
1957's Night Of The Demon aka Curse of the demon
Best black and white horror ever. And a pretty good Facebook group I'm in too.

I'll try and steer clear of the obvious. The Shining, Halloween etc. All classics and all ones that folks should be familiar with
Today's suggestion.

Have to throw in one of my more cheesy favourites-the excellent Motel Hell starring the man who's always walking and talking, Rory Calhoun

The remake of Maniac with Elijah Wood holds up well with the original. Frodo was better than I thought in the role- good soundtrack too, very 80s synth.
I like the look of Ma and I've finally found Hereditary to watch later on. I've also gotten hold of Hellraiser 6: Hellseeker which a few reviews on IMDB say is the best entry since Hellbound.
If you like grindhouse, Bloody Wednesday and Combat Shock are about as nihilistic and depressing as you can get- basically low budget versions of The Shining and Taxi Driver. Combat Shock in particular is not an easy watch, especially the ending.
I can't let a horror thread pass without mentioning Xtro. I won't put the movie up because- well, if you've seen it you'll know- but here's the electro/synth theme tune:

I won't put the movie up because- well, if you've seen it you'll know- but here's the electro/synth theme tune: Ma was okay but if you've seen enough horror then the plot reveals itself really early on, I predicted most of it before it happened but I'd give it a 3/5 overall, worth a watch at least. Hellseeker is not bad, it suffers the same problem of all the direct to DVD Hellraisers that came out in the 90s to mid 2000s and that is that they were all non-hellraiser movies that had the lore shoehorned into the script afterwards ut it's a nice little thriller

A quirky little horror I've always loved is a movie called 'Dead End' from 2003. It's about a family driving somewhere at Christmas and they end up on a stretch of road that never seems to end.

Have seen that - not bad at all One that always did the rounds at school was April Fool's Day. Good 80's teen one for it's time. Prob looks dated now

Hellseeker was a load of shite, still not got round to Hereditary yet. Honestly, all of the Hellraisers after 3 (2 if you can't handle Freddy Kreuger Pinhead from 3) have been shit I am just a huge fan of the universe so I've collected all but 1 of the 'Doug Bradley' era, the newest one Judgement is meant to be a decent one but I just can't bring myself to watch it as Doug the original Pinhead isn't in them anymore. They do have a big budget remake in script stage I believe though so I will probably try that one! You need to get on Hereditary, next month the director's second movie Midsommar is out!
