Apparently selling to the cousin of the Man City owner. Football clubs used as pawns in a family dispute?

So we’ll soon be looking at a top 7.
You’ve got to feel for the Sunderland supporters who’d thought their day just couldn’t get any worse.

These rich Arabs are ruining the game. Taking all the transfer fees up to an even more obscene level. Greed and ego will ruin our game and one day a big club will implode. It was great being in the PL league but the Championship is a far better more competitive exciting league. With proper fans and far more British players.

Possibly 8 big clubs if West Ham achieve their ambitions. The term sleeping giant gets tossed around a lot, but in Newcastle's case it is certainly true. The support area is massive stretching from the Scottish border down into North Yorkshire. The potential numbers they could attract is also huge and plans have been prepared for a 70,000 stadium by turning the ground 90 degrees: www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/revealed-ingenious-plan-turn-st-16138611

Looks like we got relegated before the spending went totally doolally.

Looks like we got relegated before the spending went totally doolally. We got our fingers burnt trying to keep but we’ve always had a decent following / history. I could see a Bournemouth / Brighton getting into serious trouble if they overspend. It’s almost like the remaining clubs outside the top 6 should agree to be sensible and let the bigger clubs mess about with silly money. Its almost like 2-3 seperate divisions.

Since the initial disappointment of our last season had sunk in & faded, and let's face it, it was a long time coming, I'm starting to be glad we never went straight back up this season. Apart from clearly being a long way from good enough to get promoted, we were nowhere near being good enough to compete & survive back in the top flight. But the Premier League was starting to feel stale & even trips to & visits from the top 6 were fast losing their appeal when we stopped competing against them. Matches against the likes of Forest, Blues & Derby etc etc are far more appealing at the mo to me. I'm sure in a season or so a return to the Prem will be sought after but right now I'm quite contented where we are.. Feel happy we at least made our way into the Premier League as it was for so long our nemesis and unknown territory & on the whole we as a club had a great adventure in it, but can't help but feeling on reflection a case of been there, done that & was perhaps abit overated!

We don't know what their input will be yet. It might not be a Man City type of throw billions at it situation.

Man City got took over but, when alls said and done, nobody can deny they were always a huge club. Similarly Newcastle. They are big clubs, both from football mad cities. That's why they are the opposite of Paris. Paris isn't really a football city and gets all that money and prestige.

Rafa will be singing in the shower tonight. Sky & the media have a problem though, It's disrupting the brand, what with there only being one City, one United etc in English football

In a way the club I feel least sorry for are Chelsea because for me they’re the club that started it all and they’re the ones that created the monster. Even they now can’t compete and are miles behind the big 2. In a way it’s quite funny that’s it Man City as they’re far more unlikable than Liverpool, Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal. Can’t help thinking that if it was a Stoke or Burnley winning the title after being bankrolled and winning title after title the FA would be doing all they could to stop it as it wouldn’t suit there agenda. If we got promoted again it’d be like being in the second tear anyway as we’d be in the PL in name only. We’d just be playing 13 teams like us and 12 games a season where we have little or no chance of winning as the big clubs will just get bigger.

In all seriousness I think other clubs have missed the boat now - the proverbial big 6 are so far down the line in dominating the game it would take decades for another club to come close whatever the wealth injection. Best the Geordies can hope for is to become as consistent as Everton - which isn’t exactly a thrilling prospect for your average Arab investor. The game is , as others have mentioned , buggered in this country and we’ve only got ourselves to blame.

The mission statement was to win two champions leagues in the first ten years. They won one...failure. I hope they enjoyed it because they are a long way away from getting there again.
