All that article proves is the failure of Capitalism and the wickedness of the country and world we live in. No answer then? Perhaps there were too many questions on my previous post, so I’ll shorten it for you. What is your alternative to capitalism and please point to where in the world your system is operating successfully?

If you don't want austerity don't vote in the Labour governments that fuck the economy that leads to austerity. There's no poverty in the UK - just stupidity. The UN talks bollocks... UN...It makes me laugh all those Labour politicians who go on about austerity and poverty when pretty much everyone who claims to live in it has i-phones, have 7-8 pints up the local club and burn through at least 1 pack of fags a day. They just use it to shut down debate they know they cant win, such as labelling anyone who disagrees with mass immigration and the EU racists or Xenophobes.

I have been on my arse several times and never been offered a tin of beans or a loaf of bread. What criteria do you have to fit?

True Socialism relies on altruism that everybody wants to help everybody and wants nothing more than anybody else in return. That is a difficult concept to fathom In that case, I have never met a true socialist.

I wouldnt know personally, but being a shameless dole claimant who spends their money on things that are essentials would help. Also, being able to turn on the waterworks helps

That is a difficult concept to fathom In that case, I have never met a true socialist. Me neither as it all ends up Orwellian some are more equal than others. Which at least capitalism owns up to from the beginning, I read a bit of Richard Dawkins book the selfish gene when the wife was doing her degree, the principal of that is that no matter what it is hard written into our dna that we want our progeny to succeed over anybody else’s so that our genetic lineage carries on. I also read and the name of it escapes me about the fact that humans outside of smaller tribes such as communities of over 50 or so people or so many family groups, struggle to get on and it’s where conflict and spite arise from.🤷♂️ Some of it sounds right but it’s all opinion I suppose

Bloody hell! I dunna get involved in the political threads anymore, mainly cause I’ve got better things to do with my time but also because I’ve completely lost interest in politics.
Makes me laugh how people are that set in they’re views they are still pretending Blair and Brown were anything but centrists and 2008 crash wasn’t at all the fault of those blokes from Thr Big Short!

The UN have now finished their report www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/may/22/un-report-compares-tory-welfare-reforms-to-creation-of-workhousesA leading United Nations poverty expert has compared Conservative welfare policies to the creation of 19th-century workhouses and warned that unless austerity is ended, the UK’s poorest people face lives that are “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short”
"He accused the Government of the “systematic immiseration of a significant part of the British population”.
"The “endlessly repeated” mantra about rising employment overlooks that “close to 40% of children are predicted to be living in poverty two years from now, 16% of people over 65 live in relative poverty and millions of those who are in work are dependent upon various forms of charity to cope”
“It might seem to some observers that the department of work and pensions has been tasked with designing a digital and sanitised version of the 19th-century workhouse, made infamous by Charles Dickens.”
The report slams the government’s austerity programme, with criticisms of “shocking” rises in the use of food banks and rough sleeping, falling life expectancy for some, the “decimation” of legal aid, the denial of benefits to the severely disabled, falling teachers’ salaries in real terms and the impoverishment of single mothers and people with mental illness.
Alston said austerity had “deliberately gutted” local authorities, shrinking library, youth, police and park services to the extent that it was not surprising there were “unheard-of levels of loneliness and isolation”.Good fucking God, when everyone has eventually finished their Brexit wank, this Government needs a Socialist Government to right the wrongs of this evil and wicked bunch of Tory tosspots.A bit like venuzeula where they are having to eat their pets to survive? We need a centre ground party who is tough on crime, tax avoidance, and can fund services correctly without bankrupting the country again, too much left, then right has fooked us over Thank fuck the wife's got a couple of horses.

I don't support any political party. They all take a narrow view, insisting theirs is right and everybody else is wrong. Whoever takes the most pragmatic approach gets my vote.
But before anybody with an IQ less than 60 buys this rubbish about how we need a socialist government to put right the heartless destruction wreaked by the "evil Tories", it's worth reflecting on Labour's record over the last 50 years.
They've got form for leaving a horrendous mess behind every time they get voted out of government, but they really don't like being reminded of it.
From Denis Healey having to go to the IMF and borrow money at 33% in the 1970s to Brown's government thinking it was funny to leave a note at the Treasury saying "there's no money" in 2010, they wreck the economy, leave massive spending plans in place, then blame everybody else.
This country is at its most settled and prosperous when the political pendulum swings neither too far to the Left or the Right.

And even better Labour gets all the credit for building the new hospitals and the Tories get slagged off for having to make cuts and raise taxes to pay for it.

I read an aticle on how if the taxpayer had paid for the Royal Stoke, we would have paid 451m and owned it. Using PFI the total cost to the taxpayer comes to 2.4bn. Makes no sense to throw away money like that.

Tory’s, Labour, Greens, UKIP, Lib Dems whoever it doesn’t matter, they’re all useless, they’re all snake oil salesmen and none of them have the foggiest fucking clue about the nation as a whole.
I’ve never voted and never will, I don’t agree with any of the political parties, as far as I’m concerned they’re a complete waste of time and effort.
I’d argue the thread title could be applied no matter who is in charge, first thing I did with my polling card when it came was wipe a bogey on it and throw it in the bin.
We’re shafted no matter who takes the reigns, the Tory’s couldn’t give a fuck about anywhere outside of London, Corbyn is a threat to national security, UKIP want to build a Tesco value version of Trump’s wall but don’t have the foggiest idea on how to actually run a country, the Lib Dem’s have achieved absolutely nothing of note in my 26 years on this planet, I don’t know why they fucking bother, the Greens are just a bunch of twig-eating daydreamers that think we should all eat inscence sticks for breakfast and not shave our armpits.
And they’re all 600 years old, I’m surprised there isn’t three coronary’s a day in the House of Commons.

Iraq aside Blair got out while still on a public high leaving brown to face the music Brown the father of austerity was knee deep in it, pfi was used for hospitals etc solely to keep the borrowing of the government books just so Mr 0% growth could claim to be fiscally responsible and met his borrowing rules.
