Will watch on catch up, have lost remote to the kids tonight lol. Good band and a hell of a singer. I had a drink in the 80s with John Gustafson who played bass for them for awhile, as well as playing with Gillan and doing some sessions with John Lennon , talked highly of Ferry and Phil Manzanera

He died 4 or 5 years ago and he was mates with all the Liverpool bands and did the Hamburg circuit in the 60s. Met him a few times when he was playing in a pub band with John Coghlan from Quo and Micky Moody from Whitesnake. Fascinating guy .

Just caught up with it and really enjoyed the programme. I knew very little of their earlier history and would have loved to have seen them in the early 70's.

Brian Eno best of the bunch imo. Remained credible when Ferry went a bit too crooner/pub singerish for my tastes. 'Avalon' indeed...

Didn't Ferry write everything particularly in the first two albums which were the only ones to feature Eno before he left. Absolutely top notch band but they would have been nothing without Ferry.

Felonious, I've got everything that they've done and the first three solo CDs of Bryan.these foolish things, another time another place and bride stripped bare.....I went off him a little bit when he went a bit too melancholy. I even like his Carrifergus

I even like his Carrifergus Similar here I hung on until Tokyo Joe and then called it a day then the later stuff came along and wasn't bad but more commercial. Having said that Avalon and Slave to love are fabulous tracks.

Odd reminiscence, but song that got me into Roxy was Same Old Scene, and still my favourite song by them, saw a film called Times Square when I was about 15 and that was the main song in credits and it got stuck firmly in my head and lead me to reappraise them . Avalon has left me cold but some amazing songs bar that

Not sure about the early writing credits, but I do love early Roxy. Even the Dylan cover 'Hard Rain's'. Eno was always less about 'songs' and more about atmospheres, I believe twas him that gave their pop that twist which seperated it from the herd, made it great. I thought, later Roxy and 'Jealous Guy' and all that was a bit safe, a bit lame, undoubtedly commercial. Eno has continued exploring and innovating.

I first saw them for 30p at the George Hotel in Burslem. We went to see Climax Chicago but they were cancelled and Roxy were the replacement band. We had never heard of them. Virginia plain was a number one hit a few weeks later.

I saw Roxy Music at the Viccy Hall I think it must have been around the end of 1972 not long after Virginia Plain had been number one. I much preferred their earlier music.
