I really can't stress enough how excited I am to watch this just watch the trailer. Hereditary was brilliant as well from the same director.

I don’t know where to start with Hereditary. That film hits so many spots. I was jumpie for weeks after watching it, going to the toilet in the night. MrsBath couldn’t make it till the end...

The atmosphere in that film is unbelievable. I couldn't believe it when I saw people walking out of it after 30 min at the ODEON, I remember seeing on their "viewer rating" it had a 2/5, a sad moment for horror that was.

Always remember going to see it with my housemate on a Sunday and at night she sent me a voice note on WhatsApp of a long silence before doing the clicking noise. Didn’t speak to her for a couple of days. Genuinely terrifying in the cinema, loved it. The trailer for this one disappoints me to be honest.

Just my opinion, but I thought Hereditary was rubbish and the ending bordering on hilarious.

Hmm, I’m not sure. I just genuinely loved Hereditary, it was one of the best cinematic experiences I’ve had - wanted to walk out at one point I was so full of dread for the next scene. This seems a bit more tame, to be honest. Probably comparable to The Village from The Sixth Sense. It might be something different but he’s going to have to get really creative to scare me if it’s all gonna be in broad daylight!

Looks okay- getting a bit of a Wicker Man vibe from it. Not seen Hereditary yet.

How did you feel about WickerMan as a horror... Careful he might think you mean the Nic Cage one I’ve never been so disappointed & to completely cut the Brit Ekland scene was criminal The thing for me with the original Wickerman is how they’re all singing joyful hymns at the end. It’s so incongruous. A bit like the closing track on Hereditary!

How did you feel about WickerMan as a horror... Careful he might think you mean the Nic Cage one Don't worry, HE'S seen that version too. The original WM is good looking back through the mists of time. By the same token, The Exorcist (Director's Cut particularly) is the classic horror of all time IMHO.

Just my opinion, but I thought Hereditary was rubbish and the ending bordering on hilarious. How did you feel about WickerMan as a horror... I always thought Britt Eckland was the star turn in that film.

But did you know she had a "stunt" double in the film for the famous "wall dance" scene?

Getting mixed reviews, but there’s some good actors in there.
Turns out it’s not like any other night in Midsomer Norton, cause there’s no night at Midsommar in Sweden & nowhere to hide😱💀🎃
Heres a quote from the thinking mans horror director about both of his films:-
“I see both films as being existential horror films that are contending with fears that don't have any immediate remedy. "Fear of death, fear of losing the people closest to us. The fear that we can never really know the people closest to us. "I'd say the film is touching on all of that stuff - and at the same time, the movie is a break-up movie."

So is it good or bad? Worth a 5er or steer clear? I've just got out of the cinema having been to see it, I'd say it's a bloody hard one to say! Definitely if you like the original Wicker Man it's in that realm but while it's got gore and it's a twisted festival and such it's very much about the girl and her journey and development through the film. I think I'd give Hereditary an 8.5 and this a 7 if I was to rate them, not that it was a worse film in fact in technical terms is absolutely fantastic but you have to be invested in it much more than your average horror movie like that new Annabelle.

Also went to see it last night - thought it was total shite. 0/10 Pretentious, up its own arse, self indulgent drivel. I should have been warned having heard warm comparisons with another recent pseudo horror film that was also shite; Mother!

Up to that point it was actually very good. As you say, more drama than horror. Not unlike the Wickerman which Midsommar draws on significantly as noted in earlier comments on this thread.

That's definitely bollocks, there are maybe 3-4 instances in the whole film where there is a violent scene and the film is 2hrs and 20 minutes long

The scariest thing about Hereditary was that someone would fuck Toni Collette. Twice.
