Let Down - Cuba shocking levels of poverty, many locals quite intimidating begging for drinks clothes etc around the beaches of Hotels.
Thassos, Skiathos and Paxos stunning people, scenery, beaches and food. Sounds like when i went to see my ex boss in Batam, flew and stayed at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore to start with then caught the Ferry to Batam and then a Car to the Hotel..played a bit of Golf then went to Bali for the week...hated it...Bali i mean, not what i expected at all...never go back..

Turkey is absolutely mad, some areas absolutely beautiful other places shit holes. A bit like comparing Grimsby and Devon.
Marmaris and Altinkum are utter shite.
Bodrum ,Fethiye and the area north of Kusadasi are absolutely stunning.
Dalayan is like being in England there that many Brits living there.

Agree with a lot of these, Toledo, Seville, Kyoto. On a related note, does anyone know about Tenerife. I’ve booked a week there because I thought the kids wanted to go to a water park and they have the big one there. Turns out they’re not that bothered so I’m not sure what we’re going to do for 7 nights there in high summer. Any suggestions for something off the beaten track? We went to this for the lads birthday, which we enjoyed - www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g635888-d654074-Reviews-Castillo_San_Miguel-San_Miguel_de_Abona_Tenerife_Canary_Islands.htmlAlso food wise, highly recommend going to Los Abrigos, lots of great fish restaurants. This one is superb...https://www.restaurantelosabrigos.com/en/ Puerto de la Cruz in the north is nice for a day out, assuming you're staying in the south. And there's always the pub.

We went for 7 days and it was 7 days of pure joy and culture. Hired a car and hardly used it apart from a trip to Cadiz (weirdly appealing place) and Alhambra (awful and tacky). Went to a few of the gardens and palaces in Sevilla but loads more to do - next time later this year we'll just hire pedal bikes to get around. The churches are wonderful (the only let down being the main central cathedral which although enormous is pretty bland inside). The area around the main cathedral is wonderful though. Perfect combination of warm friendly people, fantastic food and drink and breathtaking architecture and gardens. Went to Cadiz a great place in the old town, it was the palace gardens in Seville I was on about, where they filmed some of Game of Thrones www.google.com/search?q=alcazar+palace+gardens+seville+spain&client=firefox-b-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwijoMGPvZ_iAhVfTBUIHSjBBWgQ_AUIDygC&biw=1600&bih=774Must have walked past the entrance to Alcazar about 5 or 6 times but never been in - there is so much more to do. Going to Seville again in September and Alcazar is on the list of visits. Going to explore Triani too

Never fancied a cruise at all until kids booked us a 2 week Caribbean cruise last December I’d do it every time now....superb you must have been around there same time as us, we sailed out of Miami towards the end of november. Another letdown - Nassau, gone so commercial and full of traffic since I was last there, and with so much money coming in it does seem grubby in parts, same as St thomas American Virgin Islands (sorry ND) Surprise - Malaga, had quite a bit of money spent on it around the harbour area, was quite a pleasant day there.

Letdown-Los Angeles, absolute shithole Surprise-Kotor in Montenegro,Mostar in Bosnia I worked in LA- no idea why anyone would holiday in the city itself. Is like going to Manchester on holiday. Some beautiful places an hour or so away but was always baffled by people going to Holywood etc. I lived near the Holywood Bowl, was ok and handy for work but not a nice city.

Yes it was certainly different to what we’d expected that’s for sure. Some great houses in the Bel Air and Rodeo drive areas but as for the rest🤔 Still can’t make my mind up about San Francisco either.
