Yeah, it's a relief that Rudgie seems to have categorically ruled out Cousin. Stoke City, who have also won promotion to the English top flight this summer, are set to have a £1.5m bid for Scotland forward Lee McCulloch rejected by Rangers.
The Ibrox club has once again been linked with a 12 month loan deal for Middlesbrough and England Under-21 winger Adam Johnson.Maybe we could do worse than go for that Johnson bloke at Boro. He seems very talented www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/display.var.2320803.0.rangers_target_mark_so_glad_hes_in_mexico.php

By Peter Jardine Last updated at 9:38 AM on 27th June 2008
Premier League new boys Stoke City are poised to officially post their interest in Rangers and Scotland star Lee McCulloch.
Manager Tony Pulis rates the midfielder-cum-striker highly and wants to take the former Wigan player back to England. A Stoke bid of around £2million might tempt Rangers, with Walter Smith having already signed powerful front players in Kenny Miller, Kyle Lafferty and Andrius Velicka.
Cardiff continue to monitor Kris Boyd and the Welsh club's chairman, Peter Ridsdale, is prepared to push their bid up to £ 3m in an effort to persuade Rangers to give them permission to open talks with the Ibrox top scorer.
McCulloch, 30, scored six goals last season in Glasgow but, by his own admission, did not quite make the impact he had hoped.
Pulis said this week: 'I know McCulloch because of what he did at Wigan but, if I am going to do business, I will talk to managers first.'
Lafferty was deployed in left midfield often by Burnley and the Northern Ireland international feels a move to Ibrox will help him mature quickly.
'I am the first person to admit that my attitude was not always as good as it should have been,' said the new £3m recruit. 'I'm a young lad but that can never be used as an excuse. The truth is certain things happened at Burnley that threw me but that chapter of my career is over now.
'Going to Rangers will help me grow up as a man and as a player. The big difference for me will be getting treated as any normal player brought to the club and not as a kid who came through the ranks because that can bring its own pressure.
'Glasgow is seen as a goldfish bowl but I love this club and, being a fan, I know how much it matters in the fans' lives.
'Some people might not be convinced about the fee, but that is out of my control. I just want to show them I love the club and want to help bring success.'

Underwhelming I'd be amazed if we were in for him again. Although it's clear Pulis likes his style and was definitely interested in the summer. Wrong side of 30, can't get into the Rangers team, slower than death, Cresswell clone??? Surely we can do better?

The rangers fans can't wait get rid of him, but the management team have a soft spot for him a bit like pulis with cresswell.

sadly, he does come over as a tp sort of signing.a steady eddy sort of bloke. unlike dramani, who appears to be a little bit to quick and to much of a forward for our style at the mo'.
but if either came into the team, and helped to keep us up/move us forward, i'm happy!

A new striker is surely a must, but I dont think McCulloch is the answer.

It would rank as a 'typical' Pulis signing to be honest and to be fair, he has a decent track record with his signings. However, as mentioned, McCulloch would be rather underwhelming- certainly another Cresswell on paper.
Dramani on the other hand....

I see further up this thread people having a pop at Cousin, but he's done ok for Hull hasn't he?
So who knows?

He's done alright yeh but his temperament has been a problem in the past, although it doesn't look like it has yet at Hull.

Hopefully Ipswich will beat us to the punch for this camel. www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/scottish/scottish_sport/116509/Kinnear-wants-Bazza-at-Toon-Rangers-Newcastle-United.htmlMeanwhile, Ipswich are poised to offer Lee McCulloch the chance to start the Ibrox exodus.
The versatile 30-year-old has fallen out of the picture at Ibrox this season and Town boss Jim Magilton hopes to lure him south with the promise of first-team football.
Stoke are also still interested in the player, but boss Tony Pulis can’t offer McCulloch the same guarantees.
Although Rangers paid Wigan £2.25m for his services in 2007, they are happy to let him go for nothing to free up their wage bill.
McCulloch’s contract still has two years to run but Ipswich are prepared to offer him a bumper package to lure him back south.
McCulloch has played on both flanks and recently deputised at centre-half for Rangers.
He played in the majority of games last term, but has featured only five times for the Light Blues this campaign.
But he is one of a number of fringe players Smith must clear out before he can bring an impact signing into his side.
