The BBC are now reporting that the death toll is now up to 290 with over 500 injured ! A 6ft pipe bomb was also discovered near the main airport at Colombo. Earlier today the Beeb said the Sri Lankan authorities have said the attack is aimed "at Christianity" and the attackers are part of a "radical extremist Islamist group" - 24 arrests have so far been made. The Sri Lankan government apparently received a warning about 10 days ago of an imminent attack. Religion of peace strikes again ! Let's see if it gets the same coverage as Christchurch did. Other attacks on Christians haven't, as Nigel Farage has pointed out several times.

The Sri Lankan government are certainly giving mixed messages. They've earlier fluctuated between "definite links to", and "the situation is unclear", and some "spokesperson" has just said "it is definitely the work of islamist extremists".
Whoever is responsible it was definitely aimed at Christianity !

Which attacks on Christians have received reduced coverage? Any of the ones that have happened throughout Africa, that only he has seen fit to mention. This is a massive problem that isn't going away. Quite why anyone would kill over religion is beyond me, but there you go.

Would you be happy to live in an Islamic country? Assuming that you are male would you be happy for your mother, sister, daughter to live in an Islamic country. If you were gay would you be happy to live in an Islamic country. If you were Christian would you be happy to live in an Islamic country. Not forgetting the disabled.
Religion or culture and upbringing..... or religious teachings.....or the whole package?

I thinks it to do with the fact that it's almost expected from that part of the world. Tragic though it is it's a regular occurrence. A part of the world full of stupid religious driven ignorant intolerance. It canβt be dismissed so lightly There's probably nothing that can be done about it. The Tamils want independence and are suppressed. I've always thought that amongst all the religions of the world the Buddist faith is the religion closest to a religion of peace but Sri Lanka kills that thought stone dead. As with NI when you've got religion and an issue over land you've got no chance.

Very distressing that the Sri Lankanβs had intelligence that this was coming 10days before the attack & ignored it. Not sure what they could have done to prevent it, but maybe they could have called for help. Seems that the terrorists went for a soft underbelly again...

This is not down to islam. Itβs down to nutters. Nutters who follow Islam. Hence the word Islamists. The media won't push this because they don't want to offend European Muslims, or stir up trouble with the indigenous populations of Europe. People might start questioning why the EU has welcomed so many Muslims into Europe in such a short space of time, while at the same time causing chaos in Muslim countries.

Polish deli gets "Go Home" scrawled on it's shutter - "All Leave voters are thick racists and we must stop Brexit." Just saying....

It's predominantly a Buddhist country. From the White House to the Vatican, world leaders condemned the string of bombings that killed more than 200 people in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday as many of the victims were in churches celebrating one of most important holidays in the Christian faith.
Make of that what you will, maybe the rest of the world is wrong and you are right I bow to your superior knowledge Β oh great one.
? Merely pointed out that Sri Lanka is predominantly a Buddhist country. Not sure what your point is?

It is appalling. Completely senseless. Absolutely tragic. TRAGIC. But equally tragically we all know it won't be the last event of this nature. What are they trying to achieve? It's beyond me. - And how many MORE families have been utterly devastated this time? I can't bear to think of it.

To be fair almost all the media reports yesterday (that I saw or heard) were saying 100% that this was an attack on Christians. The Sri Lankan Govt also repeated this numerous times during the day.
There does however seem to be something of a reluctance (generally and with some posters on here) to condemn these atrocities because they are aimed "primarily" against Christians on a major day in the Christian faith. Just because not all those killed maybe were Christians doesn't mean this wasn't aimed at Christians does it ?.
If not aimed at Christians why were the Christian churches targeted on Easter Sunday ?

Islamic State claiming responsibility well what a shock, confirmation of another act of wanton butchery by the followers of the religion of peace, strange how it appears to be dumbed down unlike the lone nutter who slaughtered muslims in NZ all lives matter not a selected proportion

Some security expert on the Jeremy Vine show on R2 has just said that the authorities knew all about this about 10 days ago. Apparently certain anti-terror organisations had been monitoring the "chat" between various terrorist groups and knew it was planned as a reprisal for the Christchurch mosque attacks, when and where it was planned to happen, and even had the names and addresses of some of those involved.
It seems the Sri Lankan P.M. wasn't kept up to date with this intel because the Sri Lankan President didn't invite him to the security briefings because they'd "fallen out" a few weeks ago ! As a result no preventative action was taken in Sri Lanka.
It's unbelievable isn't it !

About 70% of people living in Sri Lanka are Bhuddist. Lordb is right. It doesnβt mean the rest of the world are wrong as the rest of the world hasnβt said anything to contradict Lordb. Itβs the Hindu Tamil Tigers who have been particularly problematic in recent years there, so I have heard. But terrorism is nothing to do with religion. Itβs nutters. They arenβt religious, they just sometimes say they are and use a brainwashed version of religion as the excuse. If religion didn't exist these things wouldn't take place so I have to disagree, it's very much to do with religion. Nobody knows for certain that gods exist, nobody can prove it. Not saying there isn't but where is the hard evidence? On the face of it it's a case of people of different races getting murdered in the name of something that doesn't even exist... And people say humans are intelligent. The human race is pondlife.. I bet the little green men in space look down on us as just that π€£
