I've never had a written contract of employment or anything like that however I work 40hrs a week / 37.5 paid. Apparently we have had a new owner and the old owners licenses etc. have been removed from the premises but there's been no sign of a Tupe as yet. I was under the impression that new ownership requires a Tupe but if I've never had a written contract and I'm effectively on a zero hours contract even though I work 40hrs a week, where do I stand if things go tits up?

Employment law is way above my pay grade but I found a very good recent article by a barrister. It discusses TUPE further down. I hope it can answer some of your questions.

Give ACAS a call they are shit hot on employment law for both employees and employers and it's free, I have used them quite a few times much better than the Union I was in at the time, as Trentvale says CA are good but may not have the specialist advice you need.

Yeh, used them many years ago and they were a great help, good to see their standards haven't slipped.
