I'm deeply suspicious of adults who are bang into Harry Potter. bloody awful and lazy casting. Kid with glasses - check, ginger kid - check, couple of old school theatrical royalty - check, cgi battles and animals - check etc just underwhelming and then some. Several hours of your life you'll never get back I've never seen a Harry Potter film in its entirety or read any of the books, mainly because I was 17 years old when the first book came out and a proper fully functioning(ish) young adult by the time the films were released and as such, had more developed interests (mainly a burgeoning penchant for recreationals, unsuccessfully trying to get spannered birds to let me bum them, and shuffling round the country watching Stoke with a headache). It's for children and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is some kind of remedial mega-nonce.

I feel the same about Lord Of The Rings. We did it at school and I hated it, then. Not keen on fantasy stuff, generally. Haven't seen Game Of Thrones, either. Or Star Wars. Don't mind Star Trek on occasion, but it's more for comedy value and Uhuru. I think that's the thing, isn't it? You're either into that sort of fictional fantasy world stuff or not. It probably requires a certain type of wiring and 'imagination', to see past all the weird costumes and shit. Still, both the Matrix and Lord of the Rings have been wildly popular so it can't just be aimed at a certain audience because they have mass appeal. Ironically, I write software for a living so a common stereotype thrown at me is people assuming I am into stuff like fantasy films, Sci-Fi, Star Trek, board games, World of Warcraft etc...... nothing could be further from the truth. I like going out on the piss, playing guitar, dicking around with cars, shit like that.... You have my admiration for guitar playing, alone. I have been meaning to learn for years. Don't laugh, but I would love to start with a ukulele!

Another shout for Harry Potter. I've heard that the later films get darker but I can't be arsed with watching the early parts first.
And I've never seen a full James Bond film.

Saw the first Star Wars when it first came out but didn't get hooked. Seen none of the others. Tried to watch HP and LoR but never got very far. Seen none of the post Roger Moore Bonds. Not watched a Soap {including the News} for aeons. No interest at all in GoT. Can't recall ever watching a Romantic Comedy, Robin Hood, nor Titanic. Can't be doing with the Cinema, seen 7even and the Ian Dury film at the flix in the last 30 years, couldn't hear a word above the rain in 7even and would have rather watched Dury with a can or two at wom. I wish I had more patience with films, love them when they're good, I'm often left feeling culturally niave in certain "Have you seen?" company. but I've got a list of about twenty films I love and will re-watch, but that list hasn't expanded since about Withnail & I. Must try harder.

Actually I have seen the first and bits of 2 and maybe 3 but what other cultural milestone have you missed or refused to watch: Britain's Got Talent Xfactor Downtown Abbey Line of Duty Bodyguard ET (I cant recall anyway). Strictly... I'm a Celebrity The list goes on but that's mine for starters Never seen any on that list either...have seen Star Wars. Game of Thrones, any reality rubbish, Die Hard films, Matrix films ,Harry Potters Titanic have never seen.

The only full Bond film I've seen is Live and Let Die - I thought that was tripe and couldn't be bothered to watch any of the others. Never really understood the hype for them.

If I do nowt fucking else, ever. Can get a decent uke for £30 and £100 will get a perfectly playable guitar, even more so a second hand one. I play a cheap nasty old acoustic and it sounds awesome ( wife may disagree lol), a lifetimes enjoyment.

We had guitar in the office last year as one of guys had bought one, everyone was trying it so I showed a guy who’s just retired that using 2 fingers and 2 open strings , he could play the opening motif from “Shine On Yiu Crazy Diamond” and was a beautiful moment , 64 year old fat bloke in a suit metamorphosing into Dave Gilmour! Magic comes from guitars , honestly. I learnt The insanely catchy Shotgun by George Ezra last year (4 chords) and kids go mad for it. Until of course they’re older and they want the ground to open up and swallow them whole rather than me embarrass them by singing pop songs lol

I did seasonal work last year and one of the guys said he had taught himself to play guitar. I thought he was bullshitting, but someone brought on in, and he could play pretty well. Weirdly, I was never really into music that much as a young bloke, but now I am fascinated by it. Another mate plays in a band and I am jealous as fuck! 😁 I always wonder as a layman who is really good, so I ask his opinion on them. Who knows, I might be the Johnny Marr of the ukulele! 😁

I’ve always been music obsesssed so playing since 13- 49 now and I’m ok. Without going all anorak on you, a lot of the Smiths songs use the same chords over and over , he sticks a capo on 2nd or 3rd fret to make it all jangly and A minor and C and G and F are always in there. May be meaningless now, but Bigmouth, There is a Light, Panic all revolve round them. Some great tutorials with Marr on YouTube, and Craig Gannon who toured as extra guitar with them. Hopefully doesn’t ruin the song for you, but ( and they acknowledge this) Panic is basically Metal Guru by Bolan . When I read that, it was like ffs it’s bloody similar ! I can play a load of Smiths songs, but not like Johnny lol

Have to say you are missing out there. West Wing and Breaking Bad are top drawer. Appreciate some of the other things aren't to everyone's taste. I really must give West Wing a go. It is the best tv program ever. The writing is superb even seasons 5 and 6 Watched the whole thing numerous times. At times it is sad, uplifting, funny and gives you faith in politics. Martin Sheen is excellent as is the rest of the cast

Many have listed numerous film series ive never watched or even want to watch. I prefer old tv stuff to new tv, with a few exceptions. Line of duty, to me, is one of the best new things on tv at the moment. You wouldn’t say that about the new series would you mate. It’s fucking shite in my opinion. Total bollox
