Far too much holding hands and talking about feelings in this series. It’s like it’s been hijacked by the far left. They’ve completely run out of episodes to end it properly. The white walker battle should have been a series, the whole travelling south and being ambushed with giant catapult thing didn’t last as long as the soppy stuff with the king slayer and the giant knight. It needed another couple of series to end it properly not just one. Disagree about the white walker thing. They built the plot line for 8 series’, I’m really not sure how you could prolong it more when every time someone dies the corpse joins the army of the dead. The battle of winterfell was the absolute last chance to defeat them All that build up and the night king did fuck all mate. It all seems very unbalanced to me.

It was a quick death and they could have given him an extra battle with Jon or something but I honestly don’t see how they could have drawn the battle out more. If the living had retreated and fought him again in say 2/3 episodes it would have been 500 vs 150,000

To be fair it was so dark I wouldn’t have noticed anyway 😆

Has it never struck you that nearly all the main characters have faced some form of discrimination and the main human bad guys for the show are rampant capitalists who rely on a bank to prop them up? The current issues aren’t due to “hijacking by the far left” they’re to do with the showrunners not knowing how to adequately handle a fantasy tv show.

The current issues aren’t due to “hijacking by the far left” they’re to do with the showrunners not knowing how to adequately handle a fantasy tv show. So you’re saying it’s humanist? It’s a book series matching GRRM’s liberal world view, religion is viewed with skepticism and employed by people who abuse power, but he knows it shapes culture which is reflected in the books and the show. The Sparrows represent rejection of religious extremism. All the good actions in the series are actions for the benefit of people, so humanist values. Jon deciding to rescue the Wildling refugees at great cost to himself being a prime example. Every major character has a flaw that would be frowned on in a conservative society (which Westeros and Essos mainly are minus a few exceptions, sexually liberated Dorne for one) yet they overcome them. Cersei is a despotic ruler held in place by their ability to persuade banks to fund her and her family, and operate on a you win or you die basis, which is the fundamental principle behind capitalism. If you ever listen to GRRM speak, the guy is as big a liberal as you’ll find.

As horrible and as out of place episode 3 was- and it was fucking dreadful television- made only worse by the fact that it felt like it had ignored 7 seasons before it; episode 4 was bang on back on form. A few jarring scenes here and there (like Bronn) but felt like it was back on song. Tyrion and Varys felt like it was back at it's best, the showdown outside the gates, the character building at the start- that's game of thrones for me. Fuck the zombies with no motivation, the show's at it's best when it's in KL. Don't know about anyone else but the mountain has always give me the fucking creeps since Quburn did his witchcraft shit on him. Just a silent, unearthly sting, fucked up monster. Hope we get to see how fucked up he is and the hound knocks his helmet off when that fight inevitably happens.
Sincerely hope Emelia Clarke gets tagged with one of those bolts- girl can't act for shit.

Never seen a single episode of GoT… Quite tempted to give it a go though, maybe watch S1 over next week or so... Seasons 1-5 are absolute genius, and a great example of source material very well transformed to screen, when the source material runs out (the books are still being written) the show is still pretty epic for all of season 6. Season 7 has some absolutely fantastic moments in, but loose writing underpinning it whereas this final season has been lurching from sublime to ridiculous scene to scene. Well worth your time however. I only criticise the show because I care so much about it. Here's a handy image to sum this up.

They had enough of those stupidly overpowered and accurate weapons to kill the dragon, wipe out the unsullied and kill Khaleesi in one volley but didn’t. And Khaleesi et al. didn’t realise how vulnerable they were. Even though she’d just been flying about 2 miles away from one that took out her other dragon with ease, far enough away for her not to be able to see the entire armada from the sky (which was also stupid), then she parks her dragon and stands about 500 yards away from 20 of them facing her. I couldn’t suspend my belief enough to think that it was too stupidly out of character for everybody involved not to just finish the war there and then. There’s been some right silly writing these past couple of series, it’s almost unrecognisable from the early GoT.

Isn't it more to do with the standard courtsey of warfare i.e. both Hands were there ready to negotiate the other's surrender, so that is not the time where you dishonour yourselves by taking cheap shots. It was clearly an agreed meeting to talk, hence Cersei's lot all being there ready and Daenerys only taking about 100 soldiers with her.
The "Honour" of battle is a fairly big thing in GoT after all.
Personally i think many on here are reading far too much into everything because they've already decided not to like it and are therefore seeing what they want to see in their own mind accordingly so they can criticisie it, instead of looking at the far more obvious reasons (which don't make it look out of place with the GoT "world" at all).
It certainly wasn't out of character for Daenerys, as she has on several occasions given people chances to "bend the knee" (which she has honoured if they did) rather than just wiping people out just because she could.
You also have to remember (as Tyrion specifically explained in that vey episode!!), Cersei's people don't like her so will happily look for an excuse to oust her and accept someone else. If she slaughtered Daenerys et al unprovoked, then her people would hate her even more. It's the reason why she says keep the gates open and get everyone into the red keep...that way she knows Daenerys will have to slaughter innocent women and children to get to her, so then Daenerys looks like the bad guy and Cersei looks like the "Mother" trying to shelter her people. Killing Misande was specifically to piss Daenerys off as Cersei knows she will now come for her in a spiteful, vengeful and bloody way which 1) makes Dragon bint look bad to the people she wants to rule over if she gets rid of Cersei and 2) makes Daenerys less able to make rational decisions in the field as Cersei has made it emotional now by offing Dany's bestie.
Cersei WANTS Daenerys to attack and for there to be a battle, as it will then make Dany look like her Uncle i.e. a mad queeen who will happily slaughter innocents, so then the people of King's Landing won't give any support to her at all and the rest of her own forces will question her as well.
It's almost as if all of that was actually explained in the very episode itself but people have decided to completely ignore it all just so they can slag it off
I suggest that you spend more time actually listening to the things people are saying in the actual episodes, as pretty much everything you've said is ridiculous in that episode has reasoning behind it that was actually EXPLAINED

Thought 3 and 4 were great as for Clarke's acting skills...theres a few in that cast are pinching above their weight if I'm honest...shes not the worst by far Why not just lighten up tho and just accept it's just entertainment..... it's been far better than the majority of entertainment we are usually fed

There’s been some right silly writing these past couple of series, it’s almost unrecognisable from the early GoT. As said below, I thought it was certain rules of engagement during war. Also I think Cersei revels in having the upper hand and showing her opponents they cant win, or at least portraying the fact, so would get off on seeing her enemies in a weaker / more vulnerable position. It did feel weird seeing the Dragon there though after they'd just killed one. In fact the build up to that was more bizarre. As if they wouldn't have anticipated the Iron Born fleet in the harbour or seen them from her vantage point.

Nah, I don’t buy that at all. For starters I forget how silly I think it’s gone when I’m watching the episodes, and I want to get immersed in it again but I keep getting reminders that it’s gone badly written, rushed and a bit daft. I absolutely do not watch it wanting to dislike it and pick faults in it, it just keeps happening. Secondly, do you think that even with that ‘courtesy of war’ (that only really makes sense if one side can’t easily wipe out the other) that Dany or the imp would trust Cersei not to wipe them all out anyway? Not a chance. And Cersei wouldn’t not do it because of an honour thing. The danger that they were in wasn’t even alluded to in the episode, neither was trusting her again. And I don’t buy the excuse about Cersei not ending the war there and then with one volley because she wants to seem like a lovely ruler in front of the people either. It was quite clear that what was happening outside the wall wasn’t in front of the population because of the execution anyway, but I don’t think she would worry about them seeing an “unprovoked” attack on an army with a dragon outside of their walls. It was stupid.

Oh, and Cersei wants Dany to kill loads of innocents in her attack on the castle as a last resort, it’s a way to prevent the attack and protect herself first, because she doesn’t think Dany would do it. There’s no way that she’s welcoming an attack on her house/herself as her main tactic just so that when she’s dead and Dany is on the thrown the people will be annoyed at her for burning loads of them. Her main tactic would be to destroy the army/dragon/invaders first, obviously.

*SPOILERS*
First off, I think the cinematics of this episode were superb and as I said for Winterfell they made a great use of “show don’t tell”. Second i think the themes presented in the episode were decent, Dany finally losing her shit, Tyrion’s desire to be loved by his family, Cersei’s protective instinct, Jon realising he’s the one for the job and of course Cleganebowl.
But my third point is, they have hamstrung themselves by only doing 6 episodes, 80 minutes to resolve what just happened is way too short. Dany’s flip was also clumsily done, and this is where I think the error with Rhaegal was made, imagine the bells are ringing the surrender is taking place and then one Lannister soldier cheapshots Rhaegal with a scorpion killing him or Grey Worm for instance. In the short term nature of the writing this would have worked far better imo. In the long term, I’d have liked more allisions to Dany’s madness across the whole 8 seasons, as is we’ve had about a season or so which for me is not enough. A better episode than 4 by a mile, but just not executed as well as it could have been.

And for all of the people moaning (my Mrs included) that it's not how they wanted it to end, think back to Ramsay saying 'if you think this has a happy ending, you haven't being paying attention' Brilliant

I think the madness has been hinted at for awhile to be fair, she's done just as many tyrannical things as she has done good deeds the seed has always been there it's just taken Missandei, Rhaegal and everyone conspiring against her to trigger it Think back to when she was in the house of the undying in season 2, she was in the throne room and it was derelict and covered in what looked like snow, maybe it was shown then how it would end, with it being ashes instead of snow. And for all of the people moaning (my Mrs included) that it's not how they wanted it to end, think back to Ramsay saying 'if you think this has a happy ending, you haven't being paying attention' Brilliant This is the ending that I was pretty sure would happen, it fits the “bittersweet” explanation put forward by GRRM. Also it was snow as icicles were hanging down in the throne room too, but it’s a nice analogy and let’s face it not all visions come to pass exactly how they are put forward. One I am disappointed with is Cersei’s prophecy, everyhing else came true apart from being killed by her brother, that one seemed a bit lazy on their part when they could have quite easily let Jaime mercy kill her to save her from flames or debris etc.

*SPOILERS* First off, I think the cinematics of this episode were superb and as I said for Winterfell they made a great use of “show don’t tell”. I think the madness has been hinted at for awhile to be fair, she's done just as many tyrannical things as she has done good deeds the seed has always been there it's just taken Missandei, Rhaegal and everyone conspiring against her to trigger it To some extent yes, but mainly against those that have crossed her or people she cares about. She’s never harmed anyone who is “innocent” to my knowledge, even the Tarlys she burned she was pretty reasonable with. How many innocents did Aerys burn before people decided he was a despot, wise men stood by and did nothing and you could have had similar stuff with Dany for the past couple of years IMO. I love the theme, and the villain to hero aspect of it, it was just a bit too sudden for me and done with no obvious stimulus. The bells were ringing and the battle was won, for me they needed another stimulus when that was happening, such as the death of Grey worm in front of her or something. As I say thoug, with 6 episodes I thijk they constrained themselves a bit too much.

Rubbish Jamie/Cersei ending. Show has diverged from the books in many ways, fine they have had to, however there's no way that book Jamie goes back to her unless it's to kill her.
Brilliant set piece re the destruction of the city.
