Come on NJ - make sense!
"My hands are not tied financially" - so he lines up 3 freebies If hands were not tied finanically. then (given realistic targets) its a front line of Ollie Watkins, Dwight Gayle and Che Adams please!
The first four signings on his watch - Batth, Vokes, Powell, Gregory - are looking like showing very few of the hallmarks of players who are like "kangaroos that can jump 20 foot and punch" They are more like three honest work horses. And Powell is a dolphin. Clever and graceful, lurking just below the surface, but not exactly speedy across the turf.
This is on top of countless statements about wanting a team of fluid exciting football, but not playing Bojan and picking the somewhat prehistoric looking Williams ahead of the younger Collins (etc). And then churning out 4 0-0s on the bank.
While we all loved the Leeds win, he talked about developing long term plans and structure.... and the need for patience. Yet, of the Leeds result, he said, "Me and Joaquin (Gomez) sat down and really planned it from Tuesday night. We sat in the Holiday Inn and planned it on Tuesday night, executed Thursday and Friday." Its great we won. But what is it Nathan. You are educating a team gradually on more complex strategies and plans - or you are winging it over a couple of beers?
He says it is important he buys players that buy into the club and community.... So what's the idea of entertaining a second chance for N'Diaye, who spent 15 mins here and couldn't piss off quick enough?
He is going against more tried and trusted approaches of doing well in the Championship - playing a diamond instead of the more favoured 4132 or 4231; snubbing the loan system which has offered teams season-defining players like Gayle, Abraham, Mitrovic, Wilson, Mount, Boly, Jota in the recent 2-3 years. It won't do him favours if he says things that lose him credibility when his actions don't match the expectations he creates, on top of taking us down a path that only he can see.
Old words that spring to mind with NJ at the moment are "hope for the best, prepare for the worst."

Has Jones bought a house in the area yet? A Congleton. Sounds like a plan! Save me a spot. Was wondering if he was basing locally or commuting.
