Last few performances from him have been very concerning. His legs have gone. He's another Wilfred Bony. He also missed an open net just after their first goal. Makes me think he wasn't a jones signing. I really think this was a Cartwright signing. He's clearly unfit. He should not have been playing but what was the alternative? As for whose signing it is, it's a Xartwright and Jones signing. Jones stated the week he came here, that he put his faith in the transfer team, after all Cartwright is an old mate of his, so Mark produced his database, and from it Jones probably said, I like that one. Then Cartwright did the nitty gritty. We sold one alterative loaned the other one out, I didn't realise Jones was a mate of Carthorse that would explain a lot jobs for the boyos.

We just need to get some pace and creativity round him. We hamstrung him tonight by stripping all that out of the team. Who do you blame for that ? he's slow not a prolific goal scorer, past his best and injury prone, we may as well have kept Crouch ! he's another piss poor signing by the Pizza boy's signed off of course by our latest fall guy/manager, when will people realise where the root cause is I blame Jones for it tonight, plus the player who had a poor game himself. He’s 29, not 37. He should have plenty of football left in him. He’s scored goals at this level before and been a good foil for a strike partner. You’re acting like the player was foisted on the manager. It doesn’t work like that. It’s ludicrous to write him off yet.

Isn't he use to play along another striker in a 4-4-2, as per Burnley? Does he work in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1? No reason why he can’t, he can win the ball in the air and hold the ball up well. We’ll likely be playing a 442 next season regardless, so hopefully he’ll continue to be a good fit for it, even if it isn’t the rigid one he played in for Burnley. No diamonds then in the true sense ?

They played together at Brighton. Or. They trained together, as Cartwright didn't actually play many games, the lot of being second choice goalie.

I’ve seen enough to think he’ll be an asset when fully fit. I think he’s better than 38 year old Peter Crouch. I don’t know enough about this manager’s recruit policy either way yet, but the two signings made on his watch are good ones in my opinion.

Batth been an excellent signing and jury’s still out on Vokes, so yes NJ’s recruitment has been decent so far.

Needs to play in a 2 alongside afobe. Looked bad value for money at the time we were signing him & looks bad value for money now.
Afobe on the right? Come on NJ ffs, what is that all about? .

I think it’s partly down to a lack of fitness but also based on his performance for previous clubs he seems to work better in a two striker formation rather than up top on his own.
Hopefully after a full pre-season where Jones has his preferred personnel to play the diamond we’ll see a lot more from Vokes.

We keep buying strikers who are not suited to a lone role, especially even without pacy wingers on the flanks. Vokes, Afobe, Berahino, etc are better in a front two, alongside someone to actually work with them besides each other.

Vokes will thrive in a team that provides crosses and not with Afobe on one side and McClean on the other. For me he needs a good pre season and an injury free run to see the best of him

Afobe is worse than he is. He's not though is he? Who threads him balls through when he's on the shoulder of the last man? Nobody. Equally with vokes, who puts him crosses in to attack? Nobody. It's shit. Inside forwards is shit unless you have real top bollock ones. Both of these players are more than capable but we don't supply them. We havnt had proper wingers since pulis, it's shit. I'm hoping NJ's brand of football (narrow diamond 442) is as effective as he thinks because yet again we won't be using pacy orthodox wingers that supply balls that strikers thrive off

*Certainly no better than Crouch (*so far) Needs someone pacey around him (not Afobe) I think he is, much stronger and more mobile. Yesterday was really a difficult game as he was surrounded by defenders every time he received the ball, maybe he should have scored one from our big chance right after their goal though.
