Just reinforces the fact that there is no place in a modern society for Sharia law or the unenlightened who practice it.

It's a tough one that matey it's not for me but some of the nicest, kindest human beings I've ever met have been practising Christians, mainly Catholics, with a very healthy moral life code. I've also known the odd unkind bastard who's trudged up the path to a Church of England every Sunday to learn nothing

Do they need religion to be 'nice'?

Do they need religion to be 'nice'? We'll never know although I understand the point that you are making. I've got twins, one's an atheist and the other still sings in the church choir when she's about. There's very little difference in their moral codes so you may be right. I was making the point about the Catholics I'd known over the years because I think they have a stricter moral code imposed on them and I think it seems to work.

My father was a C of E vicar and he died suddenly aged 51. He had 6 kids - I was the eldest, I was 19. The youngest was my little brother who was 3. The bishop came to conduct his funeral in Dudley and to bury him in Hanley cemetery. After the funeral service was over, the bishop leaned into me and said: "Could you tell your mother that we would like her to vacate the vicarage in 3 months so that we can let your fathers replacement move in". Oh, and as he'd only been a vicar for 9 years he didn't qualify for a pension, so my mother got nothing, but nothing, financially. If her family hadn't helped out she would have been on the street with 5 young kids (I was a student nurse living in Birmngham). I'm still bitter about it nearly 50 years later.

The crazy thing is BJR there will be many employees working there who are gay. The hotel policy is absolutely non discriminatory. The hotel itself has been very vocal about this.

They have as much right to practice religion as those that don’t. its easy to judge people because of religion but there are as many atheists who are no different, except for their beliefs. and I’m an atheists but do understand the necessity for beliefs, it makes the world a lot more stable than you realise.
