not starting for england today - not helping our chances of a good price I don't get Southgate, trots out the line that today is a chance for squad players to stake a claim yet he never gives his sub keepers a go.

I genuinely think he is scared both Heaton or Butland would play better than Pickford. No idea why but he seems set on him, despite him being pretty poor all season in a very average side

Jack needs to be playing top level football to get into the England squad, funny Gareth Southgate can say that when top level clubs wouldn't touch him with a barge pole for top level managerial positions

Pickford will need to be injured for JB to get a sniff.

I know I’m probably speaking a little out of term but is Jack actually that good? Yes he’s made some great saves but over the last couple of seasons he’s made quite a few errors too. Good keeper but not great. I think 20-25m is all we can expect. I John 1:11 " He came unto his own, and his own received him not. " Samuel L Jackson 18:63 "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers".

Unlucky Jack, this is where you need to start and look for some other ancestry as you wont get in this team.

www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-set-launch-stunning-16410270Aston Villa are ready to bid for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, BirminghamLive understands.
The 26-year-old stopper will leave the Potters this summer for Premier League football and Villa are keen.
Bournemouth and Crystal Palace are also interested in the England ace but it’s Villa who are ready to lodge a bid.
Stoke want big money for their prized asset and are expected to hold out for over £20m.
Cardiff City’s Neil Etheridge was tracked and Villa have other goalkeepers under consideration, too.
But it’s Butland who they are now focusing on as they hunt for a new No.1 this summer following promotion to the top flight.

He's much better than Pickford and there are multiple parties interested. I hope we stick to the £30,000,000 demand.

I don’t think it’s a good move at all. I can’t see Villa doing a Wolves unless they spend some serious cash this window. I don’t think any newly promoted side is a good bet given the likelihood they will come straight back down.

They've got enough to stay up for a few seasons I reckon - by which time he'll get his big move. Could well be wrong though, stranger things have happened...

I seriously doubt any manager that just took a team to the semi-final of the World Cup is sacred of playing anyone. Pickford may not be Gordon Banks, but he is better than Butland. Get over it.

www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9266018/aston-villa-jack-butland-20m-stoke/It'll be interesting to see what our magic number is. Nixon said £23m - but I just can't see Palace, Bournemouth - or now Villa going quite that high. Obviously those prices are routine for some clubs, but not for them. But we clearly need this pot of Butland money, and the list of potential buyers is small - so will we end up saying yes to £18m or £19m?

The big thing with the butland fee has to be add on's surely.
Sell on clauses. Extra payments on new clubs survival. Extra payments on England caps etc.
We will sell him for less than his true worth for sure so the add on clauses will be crucial

If it is anywhere around £20 million it will be payable in 30 years time when £20 million is worth about £6 million.......that is the level of competency of out transfer team.

If it's going to be a Villa, Bournemouth or similar then we are daft if we sell him yet with Parachute payments and a proper ambition of promotion.
Loan him to Villa for the season, so he's in the International shop window, with an optional fee at the end of it for say, £25m.
The chances are extremely high for Villa to come back down again and probably higher this time around for us to go back up.
It's win-win for everyone, at least for a season.

Strange one for me if Villa are in for Jack seeing as a percentage of the fee goes to there hated rivals across the city.

The established England No2 keeper should do better than a side that, let's be honest, could well come straight back down. Where does that then leave him?
He's plenty good enough to get a Top 8 move - Leicester (for example) would be a much better bet for him, if his real motivation is being in the PL, a club of that ilk.

He's plenty good enough to get a Top 8 move - Leicester (for example) would be a much better bet for him, if his real motivation is being in the PL, a club of that ilk. But if they're not in for him, what does he do? He needs a team looking for a new No.1 keeper , and most teams seem pretty settled there. That team needs to be willing to pay £20m for one - and that's still a very hefty price for all but the top 6 or 7. And that team needs to have homed in on him, above all other cheaper options, and press the button and go ahead with it. At the moment, the only clubs that seem to come close to ticking all three boxes seem to be lower Prem teams. At the very least, hopefully this alleged Villa interest will get Bournemouth to get a bit more serious. But if no-one is willing to go above £20m, what do we do? There are other keepers out there for these teams. Could be a game of chicken, especially as we've already bought his replacement on a long-term deal and we will end up needing this pot of Butland money, whether it be £15m, £18m or £20m+? And ultimately he's only worth what figure the market throws up for him

Villa would be a poor move all things considered but show exactly where his stock is. But if they pay the money then ace!
