It may sound harsh, but I'd consider having Diouf in the starting line up. Harsh considering he’s one of very few to broach the 10 goals in a season stat Just an opinion pal, should have got rid a few years back.

This is a thread about the worst 11 players to have played for Stoke in the Premier League. Diouf has scored goals for Stoke against Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool. That doesn't make him the best striker we've ever had, but it certainly doesn't warrant him being included in a worst PL XI.

It may sound harsh, but I'd consider having Diouf in the starting line up. Mate I was behind the goal at Man City. That 15 seconds IMHO is enough to make him an all time legend.

I will say he has a pap touch and misses much more than he should, I think his work rate and attitude is top notch tho. Kitson and Berahino on the other hand! Considering their cost too.... scandalous

Bony was truly awful. Did Dickinson play 10 games? Dire at Prem level.

Bony was truly awful. Did Dickinson play 10 games? Dire at Prem level. Not really fair on him to include in this IMO. I'm looking at players with apparant prem ability who did naff all, stole a living and refused to move on. Dicko is none of those. Given (harsh, not that bad, but we need a keeper) Collins, Sonko, Woodgate, Wimmer Arismendi, Palacios, Imbula Owen, Berahino, Carew Bench Davies Giudetti Bony Jese Kitson Shea

Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao Salif Diao. Quite simply the most useless and comically inept footballer I have ever had the misfortune of seeing “play”. He trumps even the likes of Shea, Periwinkle and Collins. But if you wanted a sub to come on, and their first contribution to just run into somebody and pick up a yellow, he was your go to guy. I agree shit till he was booked then after the booking seemed to turn into bekenbaur 🤷♂️

I never got the OTT slating of Salif Diao, he was an alright defensive mid on his day.

Given (great player in his time, but didn't work out for us) Shotton (very harsh, but other players who played poorly at right-back had very good spells) Sonko Wimmer Collins (I don't actually think Collins was as bad as some made out, but other square pegs did reasonably well in this round hole) Kightly (I feel bad for putting decent professionals alongside some of these) Imbula Palacios Jesé Carew Kitson We have a wealth of contenders up front - how didn't Bony and Berahino get in that side? Edit: substituted Imbula for Tonge who didn't do much wrong (but playing for Vale now was my original excuse). Not many players deserve to be compared to Imbula - sorry Michael. I found this list of appearances if anyone wants a helping hand: www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/appearances?se=-1&cl=42 (Given is only 8, but there are no other contenders with more than 10). What was wrong with Carew? Only here 6 months, played pretty well then got injured and sent back.

Your reply rings some bells so makes me think I must have!

Sticking to the rule that they have to have played 10 times for us in the Premier League (so no Hauggard, Given, Guidetti, Shea, Pericard etc):
AN Other
Shotton Wimmer Sonko Collins
Tonge Palacios Olofinjana Jesé
Kitson Berahino
Imbula really should be in there due to his attitude, maybe Badou too, but both have real ability and provided one or two top notch performances way beyond anything the midfielders chosen above did in the red and white stripes. Saido is in there for the massive let down his signing was and remains to this day, given his early promise at WBA and his 12m fee, so he just shades Bony-idle as at least the latter cost us nothing but his huge wages.
There is no keeper as we cannot include Sorensen, Butland or Begovic, and even Simonsen does not deserve to be included in this list. It shows that, for all the other disasters we signed, we did okay in the goalie department on the whole.

Given (only played 8 but only Butland, Begovic and Sorensen played more than 10) Woodgate Sonko Wimmer Collins Kightly Palacios Fletcher Sobhi Kitson Jese Subs: Haugaard (less than 10), Wilson, Sidwell, Tonge, Imbula, Bony, Berahino. Ramadan Sobhi will never be one of the worst 11 PL players for Stoke City, you can call him the most mistreated player in Stoke City history, you cant judge him when he is sitting on the bench. Watch the 2nd goal from this game today.

I can’t see that clip but if it’s the one where he ran down the wing and beat 3 players it was possibly the worst piece of defending I’ve ever seen from a team, they threw themselves into challenges where they could have literally pushed him out towards the corner flag. I suppose he was mistreated at Huddersfield as well?

Given
Cuco Wimmer Sonko Pugh
Soares Tonge Palacios
Beharinho Bony Jese
Others - Woodgate, Imbula, Diao, Amdy Faye, Joselu, Olifinjana, Kitston
Tbf - above 10 "caps" - makes it hard.
Otherwise, step fwds... Davies, Edu, Shea, Ness, Gudjohnson....

It is true they are not good defenders same level as Wimmer and Shawcross (the main cause of relegation after the coaches but most of people here cant admit it). He was injured at Huddersfield and he asked to move on loan to Egypt and they were well paid for that.

Shawcross wasn't the cause of relegation, neither was the defence as a whole it was the whole team under performing. I hope it works out for Ramadan, but I predict he will spend most of his career in the comfort zone of the Egyptian League, hope I'm wrong....

I don't know how many games they played, but they all were members of our PL squads. ..................Haugaard.................... Woodgate......Sonko......Wimmer........Davis ..........Fletcher........Palacios.......... Tonge..................................Shea ..............Kitson...Guidetti.............. This would certainly be a relegation team!
