The word that cropped up on the article featuring the "England out of Ireland" banner. Some Irish politician was making the point that it is unacceptable that the only form of racism not condemned in modern Ireland is Anglophobia.
Some years back I was talking to a customer I'd known for years on the day of an England v Switzerland match and asked if he was watching the match to which he replied no because he expected England to win. I hadn't realised he was Scottish, no discernible accent, lives, works in England.
Similar with a Welsh mate who came around for a meal while an England game was on. Sitting on the sofa with my lad then 4ish trying to get him to support the opposition.
Favourite one was a English mate who was married to a Welsh lass from the North Wales Welsh speaking heartlands. Going back home for visits their game was to put him up front in shops and for her to translate any conversation back in the car. One assistant was so bad with the anti English sentiment that the wife actually stepped forward and gave her both barrels
Is it still alive and kicking?

I've encountered it on my travels. But part of being english is not to bleat about such things, we can rise above it.

I experienced it in India once, but I was flouncing around a Muslim fishing village at the time, looking for an authentic experience, dressed in a crisp white silk shirt & beautifully coiffured hair. Cnut! 🇮🇳

I’ve been refused entry to pubs in Glasgow by door staff because of my accent. Not because of the door staff prejudice but because of those within the pubs. Glasgow could be funny like that. Another things that winds me up is Britain being described as England during any international confrontation by opposing government or media. Also our Celtic cousins when complaining of English political dominance, forget how many Welsh, Scots, Irish born politicians who’ve been prime minister or held senior office and yet still blame the English!

Barack Obama was one of the biggest Anglophobes to hold the Presidency in recent times. Bastard.

Careful you'll have people down on you like a tonne of bricks. That sort of smug superiority is why people hate the English 🙄

Anglophobia is the title of a little known independent Scottish horror movie where England have made the World Cup final v Germany and Nigel's gone topless drinking warm Carling since 11am whilst left in charge of the BBQ and playlist - AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suspect there is more anglophobia from Brits than from elsewhere. Couldn't agree more. Self flagellation and unfavourable critique of British history and culture by white, privileged Brits is becoming a fairly normally event. Anglophobia is undoubtedly most prominent amongst British people. Most the world have a great deal of love and respect for our great nation. Indeed, even in places I've visited such as Russia and West Africa, the people of Great Britain are revered. As per above, there is a reason so much of the world want to live here. Unfortunately, that is now proving a huge issue as the social fabric of the nation continues to get destroyed.

I think Anglophobia is itself a misnomer as a Phobia suggests an irrational fear and I don't think this exists and not in the examples given as far as I can see
Resentment or Distain may be more accurate and where it exists largely stems from Historical differences
That is most obvious in Scotland, Wales and NI but also in Australia, New Zealand, France, Ireland, Russia, India and Argentina.
Stereotyping of English people who emigrate is most obvious in Australia and New Zealand.

Just a bunch of minor nations with chips on their shoulders because they didn't popularise and codify their national sports and we got in there and did it before them. We're a nation of pirates, administrators and bureaucrats at heart.
