Butland - 9 - world class save Edwards -8 - excellent, knows what going forward is...can he please tell the others!!! Indi - 6 - some sloppy play from him I thought Shawcross - 7 - did well overall, should have scored though! Baath - 7 - poor distribution but good defending after a shaky first half Allen - 2- had he just come back from an all nighter???...he looked knackered after 2 minutes! - he was never in the game , chasing shadows all night...exceptionally poor Woods - 2 - inept, doesnt know what a forward pass is Adam - 5 - not at his best, but at least tried to get the ball moving forward MacClean - 6 - unlucky with header, just wish he would try to move it forward more, limited technical ability being his usual downfall Ince - 5 - looks dangerous occasionally, knocked off the ball too easily Afobe - 4 - quite anonymous
Mame - ??? - really dont know what to say Williams - 5 - some decent distribution but created more problems than he solved Fletch - !!!! -

Butland - 8 - Some world class saves, his best performance this season.
Edwards - 8 - Solid and good on the ball, one of our only outlets. Shawcross - 9 - Exceptional, a brick wall Batth - 6 - Solid but some big mistakes Indi - 7
Adam - 2 - One good corner. Barely another pass made, spent most of the game being dispossessed or hoofing it out of play Allen - 3 - Anonymous Woods - 5 - Our best midfielder but still not good enough, looked rusty.
Ince - 5 - Some good runs but not his day. Afobe - 5 - Tried, but anonymous on the ball, hope he's okay. McClean - 5 - Tried but no good as an outlet.
Diouf - 6 - worked hard and did okay Williams - 6 - Genuinely looked solid, surprisingly. Fletcher - N/A

Butland - 8.5 MOM - some really good saves, but his kicking is frustrating at times. Edwards -8.5 - As people know I'm not young Tom's biggest fan, but he ws really excellent tonight. Indi - 7.5 - solid again, but not much contribution going forward. Shawcross - 8 - defended really well, but should have done better in front of goal and one scary moment at the end too! Baath - 8 - numerous blocked shots and headers won, but a couple of scary incidents. Allen - 7- worked so hard, but too little contribution attacking-wise. Woods - 4 - what's happened to him!? Adam - 6 - not his best game, but really tried hard. MacClean - 6 - nobody can fault his commitment, but his decision making and understanding of the game make me tear the rest of my hair off! Ince - 6.5 - looked our only player able to create something at times, but was too alone on many occasions as well. Afobe - 4 - anonymous
Mame - 5.5 - difficult game for him, but made better runs than Afobe and also competed for the ball unlike Afobe. Williams - 5 - showed commitment, but one scary moment that resulted in a yellow card. Fletch - too little time on the pitch to make any comments.

Butland- 8 - largely quiet courtesy of our defensive performance and their accuracy from long distance. Superb reaction save.
Edwards- 9 - starting to look like a very competent, fully rounded footballer. He's composed and smart on the ball. Giving him a 9 because he was the source of pretty much every good attack we had. Shawcross - 8 - solid. Plenty of interceptions and blocks. Him and DB look a decent set up. Batth- 8 - same as Shawcross really. Caught a couple of times on the ball but I like him. Does his job very well. BMI- 7 - fine defensively but he's never going to set the world alight because he's not a LB.
Adam- 7 - our best midfielder today. Also the only player that was man marked so he didn't have much time to pick anything out. Allen- 5 - unusually quiet. He was hidden for most of the game. Woods- 4 - just not that good. His role in the team is to keep it simple and tidy things up but does the polar opposite. His 10 yard passing and overall decision making is not good enough.
Ince- 4 - showpony. MaClean- 6 - good effort with the header and you can't fault his work rate. Wish he had some composure. Afobe-
Diouf- 5 - the chap was knackered. Hard game to throw 75 minutes at. Williams- 7 - solid enough. Did what he was asked to do. Fletcher- 6 - literally only came on because Woods gave the ball away 4 times in 3 minutes. He looked fine- so a dramatic improvement from Woods.

Sorry but can't see why Diouf gets more than 2/10 HE IS SHITE NO EFFORT, NO SKILL, JUST NOT INTERESTED I wouldn't trust him with an open goal from 2 yards out

Butland - 9 Edwards - 8.5 Bathh - 8 Shawcross - 6.5 BMI - 7 Adam - 3.5 Woods - 4 Allen - 4 Mclean - 4 Ince - 5 (Incey was brave on the ball aleast even if the quality wasn’t there) Afobe - 5
Diouf was diabolical, don’t buy the “he works hard” comment that also gets slapped onto mcclean, they are both not good enough and working hard for the team should be standard practice.

Butland - 9 - Immense
Edwards - 8 - Solid, looks to be improving a lot. Shawcross - 8 - Solid, seems comfy alongside Batth. Batth - 7 - Solid enough, he’s had better games. Indi - 7 - Did well, considering
Adam - 4 - all of his worst traits, rolled into one performance. Shit. Allen - 4 - poor first half, excellent ‘invisible man’ act second half. Woods - 4 - used to be a footballer, fuck only knows?
Ince - 4 - spineless, weak, half-arsed, utterwank. Afobe - 4 - did very little, poor really McClean - 5 - too many errors, doesn’t impact a game, worked hard
Diouf - 5 - give me a Stoke shirt, I’ll run around aimlessly & be blowing out of my arse 1/2 an hour in. Bilge. Williams - 6 - Did OK Fletcher - n/a

Butland 8 Edwards 9- he beats a man and crosse it! Ba’ath 7 Shawcross 7 BMI 7
Alken 4 Woods 3 Adam 4 Ince 3 Afobe 3 McLean 5
Williams 5 Diouf 3
Two forwards there who cost £25 m between them and despite their so called great performances in the championship in previous years. are almost Wimmer like in terms of money pissed away.

I think I'm right in saying that had Joe Allen been booked tonight he'd have been suspended on Saturday. Given our midfield problems I do wonder if he'd been told to hold back on the rash challenges.

No but those have never been his strongest points. His second touch is usually a tackle to retain possession which he was probably not going to do last night. I'm sure it's quite difficult to curb your natural game to ensure you don't get booked.

I didn't see last night's game, but I've noticed before that Allen struggles when he has to do all the running in midfield. He looks so much better when Etebo is alongside to share the work rate.

Its true that last night he looked like he spent the whole match trying to avoid the ball and any opposition players. The only explanation really.

Butland 8 Made some good saves looked solid Edwards 7 Looked good improving with games Shawcross 9 Soild Batth 8 - Solid Indi 7 Played well out of position Adam 2 Poor and of the pace Allen 3 Worked hard Woods 1 Cant remember him passing to a stoke player Ince 3 Very weak and disinterested Afobe 4 Given no Service yet again and had no impact McClean 7 Battled and never gave up came closest to scoring
Diouf 3 offers absolutely nothing Williams 6 held in defence Fletcher ? just what is the point

Butland 9 Three excellent saves Edwards 8 Solid in defence and much better going forward in the second half Indi 7 Mostly OK but caught in posession a couple of times Shawcross 8 Great Defensively, distribution variable and where has the attacking threat at corners gone to. Baath 8 Same as Shawcross Allen 6 Worked his socks off and broke up a lot of their play but very little going the other way. Woods 3 Very poor all night easy to see why NJ has him well down the pecking order Adam 5 Never really got into the game, two games in four days is too much for him. MacClean 6 Constant effort and very unlucky with header Ince 4 So frustrating not involved enough and when he is more often than not takes the wrong option fluffed one really good opportunity Afobe 5 Too isolated although not sure what he was supposed to do receiving the ball at chest hight with at least two defenders on him and no team mate within 10 yards. Mame 2 Little effort and even less quality Williams 5 I was puzzled by him coming on but he actually did ok Fletcher n/a not on long enough to mark Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/286828/player-ratings?page=1#ixzz5i9s8JKrV
