Saw them supporting World of Twist in the early 90s.
Great band.

Surely you pick the man in form. Confidence is a big part of goalkeeping. Looking through the list they're all pretty similar keepers capable of having great games and making stupid mistakes.

He has his faults, but so do all of the others If we were in the Premier League and a player like Pickford or Heaton was in the Championship we would be laughing at this kind of argument, everyone would say how Jack is competing against much higher competition. Pickford has proven himself in a finals and he's a decent premier league goalkeeper. Yeah, he's made mistakes but find me a keeper that hasn't.

Saw them supporting World of Twist in the early 90s. Great band. Underrated and over here. They were great weren't they. And they were 90% responsible for Earl Brutus and latterly The Pre New, so yes, great band. Stick 'em between the sticks (extended 12" version).

Horses for courses Jack is up there and could easily claim the England spot he just needs to consistently command his six yard box.

We don't seem to have many Butland fans/champions on here!
As Nathan Jones might say: " A prophet goalkeeper is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home."
Can someone remind me of the error Jack made to concede a goal on the statistics quoted?
We were adulating Banksy a little while ago; he was brilliant but not infallible. I remember one match when he shocked us by making a mistake that lead to a goal conceded. Banksy had a practice when dealing with very hard shots directed straight at him of parrying the ball to the ground in front of him and catching the rebound. On one occasion he did it and the ball hit his toe and went forward to an opponent who promptly slotted the ball into the net. We stood/sat in silence in shock.

Just shows what a disaster for club and country that injury in a useless friendly was.
We may have stayed up, or at worst got mega bucks for him to strengthen in other areas, but the fickled finger of fete said otherwise.

Pope is out injured so no one knows what his form is like this year. Pickford this year (my quiz playing mate is an Everton season ticket holder) is playing like a scalded cat and Heston had a mare at Liverpool. There isn’t an English goalkeeper playing at the moment who doesn’t shit himself when he has to actually leave his line and catch the ball.

"Heaton had a mare at Liverpool" If that's the criteria we're going by we may as well play without a goalkeeper.

I suspect Southgate will go for Heaton. He has been to watch Burnley's last two games. If Jack is not included in the squad he will probably be gutted. Pickford was good at the World Cup but his form has dipped recently.

They've just been discussing Pickford and the England goalkeeping situation on the Monday Night Club on 5-Live. They mentioned a number of options to potentially replace Pickford. Butland didn't get a single mention.

Jack butland is easily the best English goalkeeper available for selection. Technically, only Heaton comes close.
It may only be training but watch the clips from England duty. There is no comparison at all. Pope had a lucky season at Burnley. Technically hes as poor as pickford's but his extra size helps him out somewhat.
Heaton deserves his chance as no1 and is an excellent keeper. The best 3 keepers are, in no order, butland, Heaton and foster. In my opinion, that has been the case for a lot longer than just this season
