It’s just that it was essentially the same team he picked last week bar that one and the enforced Etebo change. As soon as I saw McClean was starting it was obvious to me at least how we were approaching this game. Going down to 10 men just compounded it. Good point under the circumstances against a poor team with no shots on target. H Is fielding McClean necessarily negative? He’s not the most creative granted but he’s an outlet on the break, which was presumably the idea? Wouldn’t have said it was overtly negative, not in the league of starting Rory/Deano out wide, but fair enough.

I only listened on Signal 2 so can't really comment with authority. But a point was a decent result all things considered. I was hoping for a win because QPR are rubbish. It seems Jones's imprint on the squad is finally reaping some rewards in terms of work rate and cohesion. But it seemed we weren't really threatening for the majority of the game. That said, QPR never took advantage of our weakened side despite having 2/3 of the possession.
I dunno. An 8?

It may sound a bit bizarre but I think we actually stood a better chance getting a point with 10 men. H

Hard to fault him today. Sent the best team he possibly could do out. Game plan out the window after 8 mins. Sensible substitutions.
The one thing I love more than anything is the togetherness. Today like v Derby we actually showed that we can dig deep, that was the stoke city I love. The 100% effort which ok should be a given but it always isn’t, yes is frustrating but we know it’s there. Roll on next year. This lad will take us up.

9* We only used 2 subs with 10 men for the majority of the game
As we have a midweek game maybe make use of all 3?

I don’t agree with that at all. You surely can’t conclude on 8 mins evidence that his prime intent was to avoid defeat rather than to win. Williams for Adam was unexpected but it worked ok. Sometimes professional managers who work with players every day do know better than we do. The annoying thing is that 10 against 11 made it an even game. Had Clucas not let the manager down I think it is very likely we would have won, possibly quite comfortably. Yes I can purely on the first eleven he picked and how they initially set up. It's my opinion, you disagree. No big deal H He played our most creative player in a 433. Hardly set up like Pulis at his most negative was it? Williams sub was a good one.

No one has suggested he set up like a negative Pulis for this game. I disagree, the Williams sub was mental. H

The Williams sub was ridiculous.
Once they were down to 10 men he should have put another attacker on

His game plan went out of the window after the early sending off. We looked solid with 10 men and were relatively untroubled. He gave Charlie longer than I thought he would which was a positive. I was initially perplexed that he replaced him with Williams, but it seemed to work well. Diouf for Afobe was also the right call. That said QPR are absolutely woeful at the moment. I watched them at Brentford last weekend, and after a very dull first half they were played off the park. They were there for the taking today and I was looking forward to how we would do, Clucas’s stupidity obviously put pay to that. Loved the chest thumping by Jones at the end, and although the Luton fans said we’d soon get bored of it I’m loving his attitude. I’d also like to mention the pre match and half time warm ups. The coaches seem to be mixing it up and everyone looks enthusiastic, even old timers like Williams and Fletcher. 8* from me. Strange how the Luton fans only got bored with the Chest Thumping after he left. How bitter are those grapes.
