Any changes to the opinion? Just with him being back to his best? He was alright, Batth was much better. Maybe the waters were clouded a bit by Woods being the most out of his depth midfielder we've had since Michael Tonge and the manger making Rowett look like Pep in terms of attacking prowess?

Apart from the free kick he was again excellent tonight and I would argue even the free kick was not bad play. He knew he had to stop the player or he'd have been in on goal. He was in the situation where if you don't get the ball make sure you get the man. His were the only long passes to find the man tonight and he made some great blocks and won his headers. Bahtt made a couple of blunders and I didn't think it was one of his best games but still looked solid.

I thought Shawcross was better than Batth this time around, Danny gave the ball away a few times but did make a few great clearances. They worked well as a pairing. Ryan’s only mistake was a crazy lunge that earned him a card and gave them a free kick they nearly scored from, otherwise superb, he is getting better.

Making some people look very very silly and good luck to a top top man , I fear some people are going to get another lesson in the summer but hopefully he will stay .

Nothing crazy about it, it was needed and he made the right decision, he knew he was beat and didn't want to risk a pen or a goal.

It's easier to defend when you're camped on your penalty area for most of the game, in fairness. He's clearly improved his levels since Batth has partnered him but the test will be how he and Batth do when we're more on the front foot which will expose them more.

Hes nowhere near his best. Thank you! You are welcome! I'm just pleased to see him "not struggling". He's far from the Ryan Shawcross we saw at his very best though. That version of Ryan Shawcross wouldn't be plying his trade in the Championship.

Perhaps he's playing to get away. Doesn't seem happy at the club.

I hope there's a few Stoke fans hanging their heads in shame this evening. Skipper's back! Why? He deserved to be dropped and now is playing for his place and playing well again. Happened last time he was dropped. Sometimes players need a kick up the arse when an automatic choice. We look solid at the back again

It's sad ter clock Ryan, such a loyal servant of the old Rub-A-Dub, wither and wane like a grape on a currant bun parched vine. But ultimately the fackin nickle and dime 'as come for the geezer ter step aside. I'd like ter clock 'im Scapa Flow into coachin ideally.

When we got promoted he hinted at leaving as lost his place.I imagine any player who gets dropped doesn't look happy but like anyone he has to play on merit. I do think one of our problems last season in the Prem was playing him when in awful form. Rowett lost his patience and dropped him as to me he looked so uninterested at times, the Blackburn game the last straw for me. I think we had a few players who were automatic choices for too long and one thing Jones is slowly getting right is making players earn their places in the team.

Danny Batth been an excellent signing and really been a huge part in our new fortress of a defence :-)

Danny Batth been an excellent signing and really been a huge part in our new fortress of a defence :-) With no realistic option at left back other than Bruno I think Shawcross is the best partner for Batth for the rest of the season, next season is a different matter and Batth with a younger partner who has some pace and is comfortable on the ball is the option we should be looking to achieve.
