I thought it was absolute tripe ! I never liked him originally though and never saw what was so funny about him.

Very disappointed, I have to say. The odd good line, but the format doesn't work as well without audience laughter.
Moribund?

Same as it always was.....unfunny drivel, I managed 10 minutes enough time to get the gist. I'm surprised by the reaction on here though I assumed that he had a few fans out there.

Worst thing he's done in the last 15 years. Should have stuck with Sky Atlantic.

I'm undecided. It got a 5 star review in The Telegraph which is almost unheard-of. All I will say it was more entertaining than some of the mediocrity the BBC puts out these days.

Very disappointing.

I remember them thinking of pulling the plug on only fools and horses after a poor start So, with that in mind I'll give it a bit longer Very mixed for me Alan partridge is one of my favourite characters...Steve cougan is a very good actor. But i think Steve cougan as a guy is a horrible twat

Very disappointing. Me too. Its definitely no 'Scissored Isle' or 'Welcome to the places of my life' which were extraordinary bits of comedy so long into a characters career. And the first book is peerless.

I haven’t watched it yet, but it sounds like he’s paying the price for getting to close to Rob Brydon. Contagion of unfunny 😕

Very disappointing but that might be getting use it and its style again.
The program before it 'Warren' was brilliant though and to follow that may have made it seem worse than it was.

Could it be compared to Laurel & Hardy in the 1940s? Working for the Hal Roach Studios in the 1930s they were sublime. The undisputed masters. Incomparable in every way. By the 1940s they were past their prime and had lost control of scriptwriting, direction and production at 20th Century Fox and MGM. However, they were still popular with the critics and public. But they weren't the old Laurel & Hardy of days gone by.
I'd say if you have never seen Alan Partridge before this new series is very funny and very clever. If you've been following him since the 1990s it's a bit like watching Laurel & Hardy in the 1940s.

Middle-aged, middle Englanders not getting Partridge, now that is surprising. Stick to The Grand Tour and being 'homosceptic' lads

Thought it was ok. Not a patch on the earlier stuff but I'll stick with it. Warren on before it looks promising too.

Obviously not a patch on early AP, was still funny in most parts. Will need to watch again as I think you always miss stuff with AP first time round.

I enjoyed it, but we're measuring it against the incomparable early stuff, although I also thoroughly enjoyed Mid Morning Matters and Scissored Isle. I think our expectations were too high and at least he's played around with the format.

Only the return of Dan can save the show

It's not as if Coogan needs the money, and resurrecting Partridge is a hell of a risk when you have the kind of 'legacy' he has.
