I've skied at Morzine and the neighbouring resorts in the Portes du soleil many times and my next door neighbours have just returned on Saturday from their ski holiday in Avoriaz which is only a few miles away. You tend to imagine that anyone fit enough to ski regularly isn't going to die suddenly in the tragic way that this lady did. RIP Samantha. My sympathy to her family and friends who must be devastated.

I'm really, sincerely sorry for your loss and I'll tread lightly here. But we're in a position where there could potentially 4 separate applause's in 1 match and due to social media, it's growing to what seems like every game where there's applause for someone that's sadly died.
One of the few things Stoke does right is their remembrance on New Years Day. It's a few minutes wherein the whole ground can show their respect for every Stoke fan that's died over the year. I had someone dear to me as part of it last year. It was beautiful, poignant, well observed and it meant a great deal to our family. A moment that will stay with me for the rest of my days. It put a face to the name of someone who's life was tragically cut short, as well as everyone else that we as Stoke fans had lost that year.
What I ask is, why can't this be enough? Believe me when I say that it's far powerful than a half arsed round of applause with most fans having no idea what the applause is for. Just last week the brains that be at SL&P decided to dictate that everyone clap for Banksy on 3 separate times, irrespective of Stoke putting on a wonderful celebration of his life. Why? It's lost most of it's meaning for me and has just become a standard protocol. Football is about escapism for a lot of people, not a place to mourn.
Again, I'm really sorry for your loss. Please do not feel like this is a personal attack.
