No, Leedsy……….. re. the revelation from Fel - (AKA 'call me Gloria and catch me if you can') - that there are men posting on-line & pretending to be women I was referring to the fact that all you macho chaps drink beer and I've never had a drink of beer, hence all the gin & tonic expenditure! So I'm definitely a lay-dee! QED! But I drink lots of gin too Murph, so what does that make me? I'm confused now. What is your favourite gin by the way? As a rule, I drink Bombay Sapphire, Plymouth Dry Gin and I have also become very partial to rhubarb-flavoured gin with ginger beer. I have been sorely tempted by that Forest Gin I have seen for sale at Trentham (made only from ingredients gathered within the boundaries of the former Royal Forest of Macclesfield) but at nearly sixty quid a pop I think I will curb my enthusiasm for now. Well, I go to the foot of our stairs! Apart from lay-dees I thought it was only Admirals of the Fleet who drank gin……. When it comes to tipples other than beer or lager, most men seem to favour Scotch or even vodka. Yes, I've got Bombay Sapphire and Tanqueray in, and have had Gordons (I love the classic green bottle) in the past, plus I really like - wait for it - Tesco gin, but have never tried Plymouth Dry Gin and can't stand even the thought of any sort of flavoured gin. Re. Tesco gin, there was one of those blind tasting things on a wide range of gins, including really expensive top brands a year or two ago (when gin started to 'come back into fashion') and the Tesco brand apparently beat all the others hands down. I'm not surprised, because it's very good. To me the Tanqueray seems to have a very faint sort-of almost 'ginger' tang, but the best thing about it is the bottle, which is a gorgeous Art Deco type of design and I can imagine it in use on a silver tray at Fort Belvedere in the early 1930s - it's a stunning design and the designer deserves a medal, and when the bottle's empty I shall definitely keep it to gaze at adoringly. The link below shows a pic of the bottle I'm talking about. There's also another Tanqueray vaguely-Deco style of bottle, but for me this first one's absolutely beautiful - I love antiques, anyway, so that's maybe got sth to do with it. I've never heard of Forest Gin, but £60 sounds mega-steep and I'd definitely give it a miss! By 'Trentham' do you mean Trentham Gardens? Is there a specialist Gin shop there, or sth? I know it's supposed to be a really big thing now, with Gin Bars springing up here and there. And, whatever the brand, I like a couple of lemon slices and a TON of ice in mine, please. Cheers! www.31dover.com/spirits/gin/tanqueray-no-10-gin.html?utm_source=shopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=Tanqueray+No.+Ten+Gin+70cl&utm_campaign

Yes, there is a gin & whisky shop at Trentham Gardens now. Cheers!
