I am pleased that god and morals are being discussed more openly now we have a religious manager Christian values have been pushed away for too long Really? After nearly 2000 years of persecuting other beliefs, Christians now playing the victim? I respect your right to believe, so long as you respect my right NOT to believe. And if you're going to push Christian moral and family values, I suggest you read Matthew: Chapter ten, verses 34-37, and tell us if you agree with it?

Must admit when I first saw that post I just thought it was left ironically. However having had a quick look at heyzeus's back catalogue about 90% of his posts are of a religious nature. So either he's for real or enjoys a consistently ironic keyboard alter ego. Either way - each to their own - the Oatcake is a broad church (see what I did there?) - and it does represent a welcome diversion form the endless post about Bojan or James McLean - however I do question the Zeus bit. Isn't a figure of Greek mythology a craven image in the eyes of a Christian?

So let me get this right. He was offered a chance at a young age to play for Ireland, but was he offered the same England (honestly have no idea)? If Ireland came calling first, what young kid would not jump at the chance? He was born and raised in London so why would there be any issue switching? Happens all the time in the US with Mexico (but usually in the opposite direction, born in US wants to play for Mexico). Nothing new.

Another example of the me me attitude of the modern football He made his choice and chose the republic he should be made to stand by that choice The fact he is a good footballer is nothing to do with it Is it? Should he? He's just turned 20. Did you know what you wanted to do with your life at 20? He'll have agents and representatives from both FA's not to mention family blowing in his ear. So at 20 you've been out with this girl a couple of times, she's nice enough homely girl and you actually quite like her - but you're not engaged and she's not up the duff or anything - and then suddenly this super model rocks up in your life and says she really, really fancies you and knows you'll upset your current girlfriend by leaving her but she'd really really like to go round the world with you. What would you do? Keep both!

What would you do? I'm a bit on the ancient side and not altogether au fait with modern slang, but I assume "go around the world with you" is a euphemism for some sort of depraved sex act you youngsters get up to these days. I don't suppose anyone could provide a description of it, or even better maybe some pics?

I wonder how the right wing media will respond to the tweet "my brudda. UP THE RA. Wait Til We Draw England" he sent as a 16 year old in the Republic junior squad. I'd like to bet it will all depend on how well he plays...ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦
International football is no different to club football with the flexibility that has arisen around eligibility, players will just play for the highest profile option available, whether it's Championship standard Englishmen who play for the Republic because their granny once visited Dublin or Brazilians who suddenly turn up with Middle Eastern or ex Soviet block country passports.

UPTHERA? I thought RA was the Royal Artillery? I guess it's still supporting some who killed innocent women and children but on 'our' side! Burn him! "We ruled the world, we killed and robbed, the facking lot but we don't feel bad. It was done beneath the flag of democracy!"

Rules need changing, you can only play for the country you were born in. If your Mother drops you in New York whilst on holiday, tough titty,USA it is then Laddie. Terry Butcher would have been a Singapore international. Parents for me- not Granparents
