Simply the greatest, on and off the field
I must have his autograph 50 times from when I was a kid, always had a smile for the supporters.

Gordon Banks was a TRUE legend of the club, of his country, and of the global game.
Legend is a word that is used too often to describe players who have a few decent games over a short period of time.
Banksie is the real definition of a legend, both in terms of his football and as a thoroughly decent bloke.
RIP Gordon.

Remember him teeing off the inaugural Oatcake Golf day at Wolstanton. Just seemed to have no airs or graces, extremely polite to everyone there. A true legend and the best goalkeeper to have walked this earth. RIP

The word legend is used far too lightly these days, but in yours it couldn’t have been more appropriate
Thank you for everything

Modest, a perfect gentleman, he had superb rapport with the supporters. Stoke City were fortunate to have signed, arguably, the best goalkeeper the world has ever seen.

This is more of a shock as it has come completely out of the blue. He will always be between the sticks in Stoke City's and England's greatest ever 11. I was privileged to meet him a a couple of times and have a signed England shirt hanging on my wall, a complete gent and man of the people through his whole liefe, he will be much missed.

Terrible, terrible news and an honour for him to be so associated with our club. When discussing Stoke around the world and locals were looking nonplussed just one mention of the great man’s name would break down any barriers and bring a smile. Had the pleasure of meeting him a bit in recent months and what can you say? As full of class off the pitch as he was on it. Humble, down to earth and always willing to talk all things Stoke.
RIP to one of the greatest of all time.

Terrible news, Gordon was a true legend of the game for those too young please look up his save from Pele at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, I still say if he had not missed that Germany game we would of won the World Cup again! Saw him recently at the races and made him smile when I told him he was the best keeper The Villa never had
RIP GORDON
