winder why not every one of our players are there It was a space issue in church. Quite a few of the more experienced players are all there, the likes of Shawcross, Adam and Diouf. Plus the likes of Rory, Lawrence, Wilko, Begovic and Fuller. And Edwards and a couple of the youngsters.....

There was a black vicar...don't know his name...bloody brilliant he was! Hopefully they'll have the speeches somewhere...I missed the Irish man (just as the army got to his house) and his daughter. I think there was a phone. I bet it was Ricardo Fuller.

It's been a lovely goodbye to a great footballer, gentleman and adopted son of the city. Everyone should be really proud...... noticed on the Leicester forum, a few of them moaning because the funeral was in stoke as he played more times for them than he did us.

He made his home here, as many others have. When we put ourselves down as a city as we all do from time to time we should remember that and think about why......

Watched it and was touched, even though couldn't hear a word being deaf. Wish they had subtitled it. :-(

Yes I saw some of their stuff. He decided to stay in this City and surrounding areas and pledged his allegiance to Stoke City. Fact is Leicester did not treat him very well and thought they could manage without him with Shilton coming through. On leaving Filbert Street, Banks requested a loyalty bonus from Leicester, and was told by Matt Gillies "We've decided not to pay you a penny. There's to be no compensation payment and that's final."[51] Banks then refused the move until Stoke boss Tony Waddington seemingly negotiated a £2,000 payment out of Leicester.[53] It was only some years later that Banks was informed that Stoke had actually made the payment, not Leicester.[53]

A fitting wonderful send off. Thought the tribute from the Irishman from Derry was probably the most moving of all. A heartfelt insight into the private man Gordon Banks, and the effect his humility and kindness could have on people who met him. Certainly choked me up anyway.

Read the book 'A Hero Who Could Fly' by Don Mullan. It's all in there. Very moving. Great speeches especially from Wendy and that black vicar was quality.

That was compelling viewing watching the whole congregation file out of the church and mill around at the end. I don't know why I find that kind of thing so fascinating.. it's a bit like the tunnel cam Lots of familiar faces from Stoke and further afield. Lovely send-off.

Geoff Eze is this vicar's name, been to a couple of family funerals at Stoke Minster and he makes a very sad occasion a lot more bearable, a very heart warming guy.
