Have we ever seeen Bauer at LB? I know he played LMF last season but that realistically doesn't automatically qualify him for the FB slot on the wrong side - neither has anyone been exactly blown away by his RB performances this time have they?
But, if the underlying agenda is experimentation (to see which players do or don't fit the diamond) and given that Clucas is no loss whatsoever, then why not?
Not sure I'd give Ince the nod over Bodger, he flattered to deceive for me last week and didn't outshine Bodger's previous game in my book. Albeit, I guess the trick here is to give whichever one a decent run to find their form, so we'd have to know what's gone off in training to make that call.
I have massive reservations with Diouffer up top but given the paucity of options as striker No2., he might also come under the banner 'why not?'
That said, we probably need to know that he is still around, let alone in contention.
Either way, I'm backing NJ during this Tinkerman II period and just hope it's not too long before it bears fruit.
1 - 2 Stoke.
Yeah - we're still very much in chuck it against the wall and see if it sticks territory. Bauer has apparently played there 33 times in Switzerland, but not since April 2016. Can't see how he can offer less than Clucas. Ince? Tricky one. Can see the Bojan argument, but don't think it's helping either of them not to give either a run. And we do need to work out if he has any future in that role or whether he'll have to be sold in the summer. Not really fussed who gets a chance up front as long as it's not McClean. And Afobe strikes me as an absolute waster, so I'm not going to champion him until he gives us something to base it on. And Saido's Saido. At least Diouf runs about and has a kind of knack of scoring scruffy goals. Wouldn't you just love NJ to rock up at the presser and give that exact reason for his selection.

Equally, I hadn't factored in the possible sale issue - a hugely valid one at that as we don't want even more £ millions sitting around under utilised or out on loan but I guess the sale (if not the potential income of such) also applies ro Bodger ?
And even then, it's clear he needs to be seen to make headway with his system and so he's got to prioritise performance and hopefully, results over potential income in the summer.
It's really just got to be a judgement call by NJ. Mine would be Bodg., that's all.

Is Tymon really much worse than Clucas at left back?. He was slaughtered after Preston but I really didn't think he was that bad?. Put one or two decent balls into the 6 yard box. The memory I have was that I said “good! Thank fuck” when he was subbed. That thought makes me think I didn’t think he was very good 😂

Think I'd go: Butland Edwards Batth BMI Bauer Adam Allen Etebo Ince Diouf Vokes Clucas needs a rest. Ince needs a prolonged run to see if he can adapt to that role. And I'd give Diouf a go. Clucas needs a kick up the backside.

I'm still waiting for NJ to give Bojan a FAIR chance not a cameo for 10 minutes.

Play it safe and go for rowetts usual team
Butland
Tymon Batth Williams Edwards
Mcclean Allen Woods Ince
Vokes Afobe
Or go for something futuristic and get our best players on the pitch 3 5 2
Indi Batth Williams
Mcclean Allen Woods Adam/Clucas Ince/ Edwards
Berahino Afobe
As you can see, as a fan I cannot pick a confident 11, but if anything is for certain, a professional use of our 1st generation players should be enough to get a result here. we do have a poor record against Wigan going back a few years now but results have to change sooner rather than later

He's surely going to throw Adam straight in.
Think his selection tonight will be
Butland
Edwards Batth Bmi Clucas
Adam Allen Etebo
Ince
Vokes Berahino

Diouf's there, so hopefully at least on the bench I wouldn't say Diouf is the answer but I think he'd do alright playing off Vokes.

Fancy us tonight and those two up top together should hopefully be a handful.
0-2, Afobe, Vokes, 17 missed penalties.

Great commentary on the red button there. Get 'em started young I say!

Why don’t our forward players look like making an intelligent run for a change?
Woods had acres then and no one could be arsed to move.
