The article says Kennedy nicknamed Kevin Russel " Rooster "
Surely he was known as Rooster at Leicester before he joined us ?
Anyway, RIP Mick

RIP Mick, saw him play for Pompey and Stoke, he lived next door to my old boss in Portsmouth, played his best days for Pompey, he was the top man in that team, in a team of very hard physical players, they reminded me of Stoke's promotion team, where every player gave his all for the shirt, oh how we could do with a few of those now, in this league.

I remember nearly coming to blows with a guy in the Boothen Paddock who was mouthing off every time Mick got the ball. He kept saying that '' Mick was just a thug''.As many on here have said, Mick was hard as nails, okay so he was not a world beater but he could play, make no mistake about that. It is always sad when a player we have respected passes away, R.I.P Mick, sincere condolences to his family and friends.

RIP and sincere condolences to all of his family and friends.
Limited ability player who certainly made the most of what ability he had, and as others have said, held our Midfield together at times.
He’s the sort of player we are missing at the minute.

Bloody hell, 57 is no age to go.
Let's be honest, he was a dirty git on the pitch, but you certainly couldn't accuse him of bottling out of a challenge. Not the best player we've ever had, and one of the players that Lou had to get rid of in order to change the culture of the dressing room. I don't think we really saw the best of Kennedy at Stoke as fans of Portsmouth and Luton seem to rate him a lot higher than we did.
Very sad news that he's passed away so young though. RIP Mick.

According to the Sentinel it wasn't Pulis he booted but Matt Holmes. But it was TP who put the boot in to Johnny B that instigated it. I'm pretty depressed at the moment but unfortunately Mick is synonymous with the worst period in my memory, apart from maybe the Brian Little season. Nevertheless sad to hear the news.

I loved Mad Mick as I was only young at the time watching him but always thought, glad he was on our side. What a shame we didn’t have him now twatting a few of our current cowards in training.
Sad loss.
RIP Mick

Sad news, as I recall his Dad lived in Tean, and he moved up to Kingsley Moor when he signed. A few of us from Tean went to watch us play down at Pompey in the mid to late 80’s after he got us tickets. RIP, a real character.

Let’s not rewrite nostalgic history eh He was despised by a large section of the support especially after that Bournemouth tackle and was a bit of a loose cannon on the pitch RIP Mick I was standing on the boothen and you audibly hear people wince at that tackle on Pulis and audible Sharp intakes of breath and ‘ oooohhhh’ s A ‘marmite’ player but I quite like marmite 😉

I can't lie just because this is the occasion of his death but I wasn't terribly fond of him either as a footballer or as a person during the 50 odd matches where he pitched up for us, I thought he was a knob. I wonder what did for him in the end?
RIP Mick.
BTW that's Carl with the dodgy mullet from sometime high end fashion outlet 'Review' (now Pockets?) in N-U-L measuring up the players for the Wembley 92 in the Sentinel article.

Very sad news, too young. A top hardman and if I remember rightly he was banned for a whopping 6 matches at one point. Oh for what we'd give to have this proper nasty hardman in the middle. RIP Mick

That's pretty much what happened, from what I can gather. The players got away with a lot under Bally that Lou just wouldn't stand for.

What suspended every week? Better than the anonymity we're currently faced with. So you’d be happy if we signed a complete psycho with an horrendous disciplinary record who got sent off and received a 6 match ban? Yeah righto

I do know that we went to the game and had to pick up the tickets from the Portsmouth ticket office. Thinking back he may have being playing at Pompey. We sat with their fans.

Sad news. Wikipedia fail to mention that he played for Stoke in the main text on their site (he's included in break-down list), yet that he played for Leicester (50+ games compared to under 10 for the Foxes). Thats how big Stoke are now!
