Looks like The National Enquirer has been caught with it's pants down by Jeff Bezos. The gist is, The Enquirer has got hold of private messages between the boss of Amazon and his new squeeze and published them. Bezos was not best pleased about this so he instigated an investigation into how the messages got out and enlisted the help of The Washington Post. The Post appears to have dug up info on The Enquirer and apparent dodgy dealings (who would have thought, eh?) and The Enquirer boss, David Pecker goes nuts that someone would have the nerve to take him on. Pecker subsequently had an email sent to Bezos detailing further messages including dick picks and shots of his new girlfriend in states of undress, and said that unless the investiagtion is called off, Pecker would publish Jeff's pecker in all it's semi erect glory. Bezos decided to call him out and has published the email which he describes as blackmail. Bezos has gone all in on this and has called Pecker out, shone a light on Pecker's relationship with Trump as well as Trump and Pecker's relationship with Saudi Arabia. Bring it on!

I know people say the National Enquirer is a rag written for thick peolple by thick people, but why would you go after the richest man in the world? Bezos has the resources to not only make you and your entire family disappear, but to ship you, dead or alive, into the fucking sun.

Simple, sheer arrogance from years of shutting people up with dirt. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Pecker found out that Bezos went public.

Wouldn't it be great if everyone stopped buying from Amazon for a year, and instead bought from the high Street, even if it means extra expense and god forbid, effort.

Mainly for the fact that the majority of the things I buy from Amazon can't be found on the high street.

Mainly for the fact that the majority of the things I buy from Amazon can't be found on the high street. the simple reason why there are no longer shops on the high street is because of companies like amazon.people are too lazy to get off their fat arses and give their custom to the high street. I would prefer to look and inspect a product before I purchase it, and it was allways useful to be able to talk to someone who knew what they were talking about..nowdays we sit in our little boxes and buy shit from amazon probably made in some third world country and probably self destruct in 18 months.the world is a sadder place.

On the other hand, it's the lack of attention to customers and mass attempts to fleece the consumer as well as poor quality customer service in a majority of retail outlets especially ones like GAME, HMV etc. where people would expect a bit of knowledge about the items they are selling but instead it's either like being read lines from a script or they are just completely clueless and it's like talking to a door. It is not just the consumer who have killed the high street, it started way before that with companies overestimating their hold on the consumer.

Isnt it also the case that Bezos has a financial connection with the Washington Post, who’s journalist Jamal Khashoggi was dismembered in the Saudi embassy in Turkey. More examples of papers being the tools of the powerful. If folk want to take back control, they’ll need to get off their @&$es 1st...

What fucking drivel. The simple reason people no longer shop on the high street is they prefer to shop online - for many reasons. It's why folk moved from vinyl to CDs to downloads to streaming. What the high street needs to do is find a new purpose - and not live in the past. BTW - the decline of the High Street predates Amazon. It started with out of town shoping centres.

There's something wrong about anyone with a personal wealth of something like 160 billion dollars plus especially when people are sleeping in shop doorways. The old adage of well he's worked for it may be true but actually it's a stressed out, overworked workforce working in sweatshop style warehouses and further down the line, equally stressed out delivery drivers driving like Mad Max to meet impossible targets. Amazon is probably the biggest example of out of control capitalism. They used to have some pretty active forums on their website but about 2 years ago they shut them all down with very little notice. Probably didn't care for free speech.
