A young un like Rio Adebisi at Crewe could be moulded into a diamond formation attacking left back I see he's now made his first team debut at 18, albeit against Villa in the cup in a 6-1 defeat, but came out with good reviews and has followed that up with a game v Burton in the cup. Anybody watch leek last season and saw how he got on ?

At least it's been finally acknowledged then that we actually need a LB? About time!

Does this mean we are actually looking for one. I hope so as we need to loan out or sell McLean in January and we can have Verlinden back.

It has proven a catastrophic mistake not signing a proven left back. All eggs were thrown in basket for Justin and Stacey when it was clear destined for better things and Jones purely relied on his previous experience with these players as a given that would be able to get one.
I've always maintained the full backs and holding mid were the major parts to make his system work.

He is first choice at a top 7 club in the Prem, yet Jones and others didn't think he was good enough for us. Our chances of getting someone half as good as the LB we virtually gave away are very, very slim.

Our chances of getting someone half as good as the LB we virtually gave away are very, very slim. That will be the LB most lambasted for his crossing ability and performances on the regular. Perhaps he wanted a move, perhaps he was a bad egg, we will never know, Time to move on.

The thing is, he's a right footer and only moved to left back to accommodate Stacey. I'd rather us look for someone who can kick with his left foot myself!!!!

Pickering seems such an obvious signing if he's going for less than, or around, £1m. " theathletic.co.uk/1907701/2020/07/04/klopp-transfers-werner-neco-williams-mane-firmino/Interestingly, one such option who may be a better fit already is 21-year-old Harry Pickering, who plays for Crewe, a team recently promoted to League One.
His pizza chart below shows a player very similar to Robertson in his ability to link play, retain the ball, defend and importantly attack by getting the ball forward and getting scoring chances for himself, all at high levels. His attacking attributes contributed to his three goals and five assists from left-back this season.
A left-back from Crewe is definitely a bit of a leftfield choice but represents the sort of value that Liverpool strive to identify in the transfer marketwww.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-rovers-pickering-crewe-transfers-19561081Blackburn local paper says they're amongst the Pickering fans - but haven't got the money to buy him this month (they suggest he'd cost 7 figures)

A left back would be good, but most people can see a couple of strikers are what we need to step up a notch.

A left back would be good, but most people can see a couple of strikers are what we need to step up a notch. I think so, I don't think we have conceded from that position in the games since Fox was injured so its not that much of disaster. Up top is absolute priority if its a choice.

A left back would be good, but most people can see a couple of strikers are what we need to step up a notch. MON has said we're after one though (and if we can get a promising young one for half a Jacob Brown, not sure what's not to like when we've only got one on the books. It seems we won't be able to play a back 4 until we get one - and could be well over a month before Fox is ready

Pickering does look a no brainer and for that reason we won't be interested.

I've been a Stoke fan since 1978 & other than CB's who have done well at left back (Hill,Sandford,Higgy) how many genuine good left backs in that time? Tiatto, Griffin Eric was OK but no more really but miles better than some iof the shit we've had Pej before my time have I missed anyone? decent Stoke left backs rare as hens teeth

Someone like Pickering (let's face it, we won't sign him) might enable Fox to also play left side of defence with Harry and Nathan back there too and then O'Donell to come in as wing back/right back. It won't happen I'm certain, but we'd need to offload Lindsay for sure to make some room. Think he'll muddle through with Smith and Collins as right back options.

I'm one of the few who thought Dorigo was okay for a short while, but maybe my memory isn't what it was. Peter Hampton was good!
