What an absolutely spine chilling thought.
Once, maybe.
Twice, come on.
Third time unlucky?
PC & co must be absolutely convinced that the pizza dept are mere pen pushers in all of this and that the only villain was LMH, otherwise one or both couldn't possibly be here? Absolutely they must think that and to be fair Wimmer,Imbula and Berahino were clearly Hughes signings. Ndiye clearly a Cartwright signing. The idea that Cartwright and Scholes drove these signings (although Scholes is responsible for the transfer free and contract negotiations) against Hughes wishes only for him to lose his job and them to keep theirs is ludicrous. Etebo aside it seems obvious that the summer signings were all Rowett signings. Scholes slow slow slow negotiating methods have to be questioned, as does the fees we paid (especially Wimmer) and Cartwright's cosy relationship with Beswicks doesn't sit right but to me the poor recruitment policy in the first instance can be put at Hughes door. It's a team effort. Just as the team on the field is not performing and needs a kick up the jack and/or replacing, so the team off the field is not performing and needs a kick up the jack and/or replacing. They have tried replacing the same key position 3 times in the past 12 months without the desired effect. Time to try replacing other key positions?

Players who are on the definite 'keep' list: Butland Edwards Shawcross (oooh, controversial) Pieters (ooooooh, really controversial) Diouf Ince Bojan Campbell erm...I'm struggling for any more. I think Etebo & Bauer will come good. Woods and a few others started brightly but then the club "culture" worked it's magic and they became terrible.

Some players you youve just got to get rid even if its a free, admit they got it wrong move them on.....start fresh? If you were offered, let’s say £40.000per week for the next five years guaranteed, would you say no thanks I will go to the next job for £5.000per week for the next two years ? Well that’s the problem that our recruitment policy has encouraged ! It’s alright saying O.k we’ve made a mistake and it’s for the best if we part ways, these players have been recruited on long term contracts and the mercenary culture in footballers will mean that we pay them off in full or they will sit gladly and sacrifice their careers whilst also rotting any future team morale and club unity.

To go list:
Butland - ambitious and not very good as at organisation Ng the defence Martina and Williams - loan Bauer - poseur and doesn't come over as a team player Shawcross - sad but gone Adam - not fit enough Afellay - great player but can't see him coming back Imbula - wastrel Wimmer - crap Ince - lazy and uninterested Crouch - bless him - time to move on Souttar - not good enough Fletcher - time to move on Bojan - manager's curse Allen - should be playing at a higher level Tymon - not good enough
The others I think have the right attributes for a Jones team. But that's a massive overhaul.

But that's a massive overhaul. Keep Adam on yesterday's performance. Bauer did alright as well. McClean actually came on and made an impact. I'm already starting to think Jones and his assistants could make a good player out of some of our failures and disappointments. For example, he gave Ince a wake-up call by leaving him out I think Bojan suits this new style of play a lot better than Hughes and Rowett's systems. Jones favours young hungry players, so a lot of the old ones will be released in time, but the club is going to find that tough.

I'm just happy if we get in a decent centre back and worry about all this in the summer.
Crouch and Fletcher will be gone then anyway and it gives NJ a few months to gauge who he wants and who he doesn't.

If Jones sees Bauer as good enough will we see Martina return to Everton if that is possible, or maybe loan Edwards out for a season loan so he can play enough football to challenge next season.
